What the hell were they thinking.l? Most Ice types are built slow and bulky too.

At least the weaknesses all make sense. Ultimately the type is clearly meant to be offensive. There's just not enough Ice pokemon designed to be offensive.

Yeah, but the result is strange.

I want ice beam (or something similar) at least twice in every team, yet I'm avoiding ice type pokemons like the plague.

You just stick ice moves on water Pokmon because every water type gets ice moves without having all the annoying weaknesses.

Yeah Ice got buffed with the new hail mechanics, but rain is still vastly superior to hail. Still feels way underpowered defensively.

Yes of course, Rain > Sun > Hail as always.

The defensive boost A-Ninetales brings with Snow + Veil to Ice types is insane. Calyrex-Ice can tank so much shit.

But yeah two of the top exponents don't make a good case for the rest of the type. Im having a blast using Crabominable effectively though.

My brother still loves Alola Ninetailes (Snow warning + Aurora Veil) & Alola Sandslash (Slush Rush) for double fights.

Fairy and Steel are strong defensive types, but even then, Ice/Steel has a 4x weakness against Fire and Fighting, and Ice/Fairy a 4x weakness against steel.

Ice is basically the glass cannon type.

Fairy really hurt the ice meta. They should consider changing it.

It's got the best status effect in the game.

Ice STAB doesn't even come to close to balancing out dying to everything.

Ice really is an odd beast.

It has way too many weaknesses to the most common types. And ironically doesn't have enough types it's strong against to compensate.

The weaknesses it does have are such that it's basically impossible for a secondary type to make it any better

A ton of its pokemon are slow as shit, or defensively oriented, which is the opposite of what a type with so many weaknesses needs. Even worse, the "defensive" ice types really aren't all that bulky.

A ton of its pokemon are physically oriented, despite being a Special type in gens 1-3, and despite its best moves being Special Attacks.

The whole type is a mess. It's telling that they had to completely redo the ice-type weather condition to make the type a tiny bit more bulky. A weather benefit they have never had to do for any other type.

Really, ice should be immune to water
