I generally refer to her as "Kamala Harris," but if I were to refer to her with a mononym, it would be "Harris," because I don't generally refer to politicians by their first name, regardless of how distinctive they may be.

Harris because I know her name is pronounced differently than Ms. Marvel but I forget which way it is for each.

Wait, they're different?
Pretty sure they both has the same name of the same origin of Sanskrit word for Lotus.

Hmm, even her campaign seems to be opting for Kamala

Wonder what slogan they'll go with

One thing I heard that stuck out from her stump speech (as a possible slogan) was

"We're not going back."

but we'll see if they stick with that.

Eh. It is a rejection of what the GOP wants. To go back to a time when things were 'better' (read: you could discriminate against people openly.)

Sure, but if the GOP had full control they'd probably try to make it illegal for whites and blacks to marry - for example.

They want the U.S. to return to the 1950s (or earlier).

The problem is that theyre working with a broad coalition of voters that is not just Democrats.

Theyre trying to go after women, independents etc. And this slogan hurts that.

I wouldn't say it hurts, but it does require a bit of thinking I feel. At least to understand the full reasoning behind it

Kamala. To me it's more unique than Harris.

Has she chimed in on what she prefers?

Both. Kamala Harris.

If I were to pick one, though, I'd go with Kamala, because it's more unique and sounds nice.

Kamala is the more distinctive name, and seems to be what she goes by more often?

Yeah, perhaps it's a little unusual, but I suppose when you just say "Harris", the person doesn't immediately jump to mind the way it does when you say Kamala.

I mean, Galileo was the guy's first name, so it's not like it's completely unprecedented for someone famous to be referred to by first name.

Well, of the one example here, it would be the worst by default I guess.
