I live an hour away from the Gulf of Mexico.

I live 15 mins from the Atlantic right now

I live close enough to Myrtle Beach that the family can spend several hours there before heading back.

Not anymore. I used to live directly on the water front (boca siega bay, which leads out into the gulf of mexico) and I lived in florida for most of my life.

I have to go about 61 miles south to start hitting the NJ shore but on the Atlantic side. I'd hit things like the Raritan Bay first; I'd have to go down to Sandy Hook.

About 85 miles. But if I want to go to somewhere on the coast, Ill normally just hop on a plane and go to Hoi An or Nh Trng.

Approximately 130 miles. That's less than 2 hours, making it close enough for semi regular day trips. I consider that close.

I'm equidistant from the Chesapeake and the Atlantic. About an hour from both.

And I haven't been to the ocean in probably 10 years. Growing up we'd go multiple times every summer, and now I just don't get the appeal. Way too many people. You have all the people from Baltimore, DC, Virginia, etc. making route 50 a living hell of a traffic jam for months out of the year. I hate being around that shit.
