They even brought back Danny Devito as Homer's brother. Its still not as good as the" good old days" but it made me laugh as they poked fun at how series normally end.

Course if they ever DO end the show its going to be a lot to try and top this, lol.

people should not have thought a series finale would air in the fall. It would be more realistic if this episode had been in May

I do think they should have an episode prepared ahead of time to be a series finale. The actors aren't getting younger you know...

mlp:fim did something like this back at the start of season 7. the advertising really seemed to want to suggest that one of the characters was going to be going away and that it was going to be some big two-parter.

with like a minute left to go in the episode she goes 'i'm not ready to leave!' and the happy music plays and it seems so aimed right at the people who wanted her gone.

I thought that was pretty clever. I never saw that gimmick coming.

I wonder if it means that there will never be an official final episode for The Simpsons, because if there is, Bart or somebody will realize what's happening and stop it.

Yeah. So much time has passed that Marge's voice now sounds like Patty or Selma, or maybe even Marge's mom.

Man the voices sound rough, though the VAs can't do anything about father time.

Lisa's actress was a well known 80's actress. She was still fairly young then. She has a lot of time. She's 60.

Lisa still sounds mostly the same, but christ they sound so old it's almost uncomfortable, like you're just hoping they get through the scene without keeling over.

Does anyone even hate the Simpsons at this point, other than lamenting over Marge's voice? I feel like nobody really talks about it anymore, the internet seems more indifferent than anything.

Considering the state of the Futurama revival I dont blame Groening for keeping The Simpsons going as a back up.

I think I messed up when I created this thread a couple days ago. I put Spoilers and left out the twist. Since I thought it was spoiling the episode saying it wasn't the actual series finale.

Oh, and by the way, I've mentioned it before, but I'll say my pet theory again. I think Fox views The Simpsons as a legacy project that needs to be continued forever, so in their back pockets they either have or soon will have perpetuity voice contracts with the original cast to allow them to AI-generate their voices for a few more decades, both for existing characters and to imagine how [insert VA here] would voice new random side characters.

The Simpsons of 2035 or so will be the first show to have an entirely AI-generated starring cast other than episodic guest appearances of celebrities coming and going.

Honestly should've stayed dead, the Hulu revival is just like CC revival, inferior to the original

They do need to end it. All of the regular cast members are 60+ years old. The jokes arent funny and they got rid of a bunch of funny stuff like barts prank calls and bart getting choked by homer. They even retcon stuff that was established in earlier seasons.

He actually chokes Bart in this episode lol
