Do you want cigarettes and alcohol to be illegal as well

I'd be fine with cigarettes being illegal. All cigarettes do is calm you down a little bit, but make the inside of you look like shit.... sometimes the outside as well. I've seen 2 pack a day smokers who were in their 30s look like they were in their 50s. Alcohol has too many uses, so it should never be illegal.

It's a little rich given how many people she put behind bars for it but hey-ho.

if she locked someone up for it and now thinks it should be legal I call that a win. Hopefully she also wants to do something about the people locked up.

I dont know if she agreed with the law or not when she was prosecuting it, but even if she agreed with it back then, changing your mind is not hypocrisy.

No

You're just vomiting up misinformed shit you've heard randomly?

You literally asked for it?

I should have put you on ignore a long time ago.

lol ok?

I mean if it's misinformed you should have no problem countering it rather than just insulting me and getting angry for talking to you.

Besides which most of that is not misinformed. People just sleep on weed causing psychosis and it pisses me off.

Most of those points are valid they're just not a strong enough argument to overturn body autonomy for me. I have a big libertarian streak in me. I don't think it's the governments job to determine what you're allowed to do with your own body. This defacto includes drugs legalization. At least for adults.

People criticize her for doing her job. Was she supposed to not do her job?

No. People should be free to make their own choices. Its just that my friend who zi was a caretaker for would be alive today if she never picked up a cigarette.. It took my aunt and is taking my mother (not that I care). No one should suffer by something thats preventable. I will do anything in my power to educate people what it does. Same for smoking weed.

Yes during her law career she locked up drug offenders. It's called doing her job. What's more important is what she does now. Preventing things like that from happening again for instance.

This myth has been thoroughly debunked over the years. Alcohol has been proven to have much more of a "gateway" effect (which in my mind is already dubious), and it's highly regulated but perfectly legal.

I think the official Harris stance is that she never pursued prosecution of weed smokers and prosecuted their crimes as misdemeanors when they could have been felonies.

But politicians never admit they were wrong so that's the best we're gonna get.

Never said I did. It applies to all. You smoke it you should know the conquenses of doing so. I would like to know long term effects on the brain from other sources. Nothing is ever free of conquenses. My friend partaked. She had a abnormal brain. She had that because of a fall from a horse. She also was on Lorazepam. I want to see if a combo of those 3 would give her the delusions she had early in my stay with her. It's not unreasonable to ask this. Before we start opening the gates lets look into this.

Its completely absurd that marijuana was ever illegal to begin with. It was about racism the entire time and still is. To support people being legally penalized for marijuana is the opposite of modern. The VAST majority of the population wants it legal.

Also, I sure the fuck hope shes planning on doing something to force marijuana off the drug test panels. Nobody in the workforce OR the court system should be allowed to test someone for marijuana because its discrimination. In order to do this, we need to abolish or otherwise drastically restructure these fucking insurance companies who demand that every worker piss in a cup.

That's my thought as well. Colorado was the pilot, and at this point the tax revenue of every state that has legalized it is growing. It's a win win for job creation and opening a whole new revenue stream in the business sector.

Plus we could do with more people chilling the fuck out.

IMO - testing "is this person under the influence right now" (or a reasonable proxy, such as a test that detects use within the last 3-5 hours or so) is acceptable; there are genuine safety reasons to have that. The kinds of tests that show "has this person been in the general vicinity of cannabis at any time in the last month" need to fuck right off though.

I don't think they have yet; but that doesn't mean that laws can't be written with the future possibility of such in mind. Could be pretty generalized - "Drug tests are only permitted if they detect (a) current levels of intoxication, or (b) use within a prior period roughly consistent with the duration for which the drug is expected to impair". Obviously with better legalese than mine. And also likely would need to be some concentration in blood / breath / etc used as a proxy, much like how breath / blood alcohol content is used as a proxy for intoxication in drink drive. Yeah, I'm not explaining this well, my bad.

I haven't personally encountered such cases so I'm not too sure; although I'd think drunkenness is a bit more noticable than cannabis influence. I'm not personally aware of companies breath-testing employees other than when actively suspected of being drunk, but I wouldn't have an issue with it - again, as long as it's detecting current use, not "had a few drinks a couple of nights ago" (which I don't think can be detected for alcohol anyway?).

The implication being that government is ineffective because they simply only have enough time to deal with 1 or 2 or maybe 3 at a stretch issues.

It is kind of a big issue actually. Like half the prisoners in the US are in prison for weed related crimes. If weed weren't illegal, there might be a brief period of time where our lead as the country with the highest percentage of its population in prison is slightly diminished before they find another arbitrary harmless thing to make illegal to keep the slave labor supply high.
