Well, I'm Canadian. If shit starts hitting the fan and that affects us up here, I'm going to take my savings and move to one of the cheap Asian countries. I'll miss my friends and family but hopefully I can convince them to come with me.

You reached 2020 under an administration that still has the possibility to get re-elected. Trump doesn't have that option now. After these 4 years, its over. He can't get elected again. Which is why people are in even more of a panic on top of the policies that he has announced. Because you know he's the kind of asshole that will try to find a legal loophole to keep himself in power.

I am happier than I have been in years.

I am still bummed but I will get over it eventually. As sad as it is, Trump part 2 is going to be a disaster and while that's bad for most of us, I do take some small solace in the fact I voted against him three times, because he offers me literally nothing and I am a straight white male.

I just read through the bullet points of it, and even though I have a strong stomach, this actually turned it. Wanting to outright ban some abortion pills and completely ignore any advancements to climate change prevention just makes my head hurt. Inflation is back down to like 2-3%. Donnie will once again be handed a thriving economy that he will coast on and claim it as his own while the cult will do a complete 180 on everything they've said and talk about how he is amazing.

As for "getting over it." I pretty much already am. I just had a sinking during last week that Donnie was going to win. I was already planning on scaling back caring about politics, but I was crossing fingers that I could at least do so in relative ease knowing a authoritarian monster who wants to turbo fuck the country wouldn't be in charge. I still am, may take awhile to get out of the rut of it all, but I am simply going to turn into a version of a right wing voter. Just low-info single issue voter. Won't pay attention to anything and my single issue is to never vote for a republican again.

Trust me, when your that hard headed nothing works as it should, and I should know. I worked at Wal-Mart. I left a facebook message on a local group telling people the new covid restrictions, and how the limit was now 100 people in the store at one time. I get pulled into the office, screamed at for "False information" and that the limit was 750. They tried to get me to sign a written warning. I just said that I'd contact my lawyer if that happened. Every other store around us had a limit of 70 people, including supermarkets the same size as our store. But we have to throw it all out the window in favour of my health being compromised? My entire department quit all on the same day the following year for an unrelated reason.

Honestly no.
Back in 2016 I was kind of hopeful that it wouldn't be that bad, but it was worse than I expected. Now all the checks and balances are gone.

Like literally the best case scenario is we just get a repeat of 2016-2020, which is a terrible outcome but survivable. I just really expect it to be worse, the guy was campaigning on nothing but hatred and bigotry and revenge against everyone and anyone who doesn't support him.

I feel like Im going to have permanent disdain now for anyone that I ever see talk positively about that orange tub of lard. The only way I can possibly get over it is if Project 2025 fails to be implemented, Trump fails at doing everything hed said hed do, and this gets quickly corrected in the 2026 midterms and 2028. Seeing as how I have a way higher chance of winning the lottery than all of that happening, Im going to say no, I dont see myself getting over this.

And that's unfortunately what I see him attempting is a puppet master presidency. He'll run his 4 years and after that he'll have specific candidates who will run the country for him while he sits there like Emperor Palpatine.

The GOP is mostly incompetent at actually governing and Trump is a toxic narcissist.

Trump won his first term with a Republican House and Senate. They couldnt accomplish anything meaningful in that time beyond a shitty tax cut. Now hes going in with an even shittier GOP that took like two months just to select a Speaker of the House.

Well probably get some tariffs that make shit cost a lot more and then a bunch of standard GOP in-fighting leading into 2026 and then we can hopefully get Congress back under Democrat control. Neuter him (or Vance if hes croaked by then) for the last half of the term and spend that time building up a handful of solid candidates for the Dem primary.

I can survive the next four years easy.

I blend in to what will be acceptable.

Ideologically, I don't know if what makes me... Me... Will survive.

Loyalty and integrity are extremely important values to me and I have sworn oaths of loyalty to my country and government. A country and government that may change and shift so drastically such that I don't know if my integrity will allow me to remain as steadfastly loyal as I have been.
