Can you believe it? Donkey Kong Country just turned 30! Released in 1994, this game was a total game-changer with its revolutionary pre-rendered 3D graphics and unforgettable soundtrack.

I remember playing this as a kid and being completely blown away. The level designs, the characters, the musicit all holds up so well, even today. DKC wasnt just a great platformer; it pretty much saved the SNES during the 16-bit console wars.

How did you first experience Donkey Kong Country? And do you think it still holds up against modern platformers?

That was one helluva soundtrack. Still can't believe the SNES could pull that game off.

I played a lot of SNES, mostly Super Mario World, Mario All-Stars, Mario Kart, Mario Paint, and a shitload of licensed games. Donkey Kong Country was special though and I feel like that game really made me a gamer. It was revolutionary. I think we pre-ordered it because we had some VHS tape on the making of it that my dad and I would watch before it came out

And then 2 came out and I probably played that every single day for several years. I love the series so much and I'm excited to play Returns for the first time soon
