7 for me for an overall experience, even if the last area was dull as hell.

Although the giant evil fetus monster in 8 is probably the most genuinely disturbing moment in the whole franchise.

RE8 tried to merge 4 and 7 without being as good as any of them. Still a good game. 7 it is for me.

7 by a mile. 8 was trying to wear way too many hats and felt really stitched together. Any one part of it was pretty good but didn't work as a whole.

7 is nearly perfect, it is also by far the scariest resident evil
Ironically enough, the nowhere near as scary 8 has the scariest segment out of any of the resident evils

Youre obviously welcome to think so. For me, 8 wasnt as bad as 6, but other than that, probably the worst major RE game.

Good way of putting it. I thought the factory also draaaaaagged on way too long with enemies that were a bit too bullet spongey for my liking.

I do agree the baby is the scariest segment in the franchise though.

Yeah, stitched together is a good way to describe it. Also agree that segment was really scary the first time around. A pity how scripted it is, although that's probably to not make speed runs inconsistent.

8 had more replayability though. I went through the game about 6 or 7 times getting the platinum trophy. I feel like it was also a more fun game overall. Although I hate having to go through that baby section over and over again.

Also I like that there was option to play the game in 3rd person perspective. After I beat the game the first time in first person, I did all my subsequent playthroughs in third person. I like that mode better for a Resident Evil game.

I like 7 and the early parts of the game. It was a great horror experience, but it's not a game I feel compelled to play through again and again, to get every trophy and unlockable weapon. I think I've played through 7 about 2 times total, just to see each ending. I didn't care for that unlockable handgun that does more damage, but can hold 3 bullets in the clip.

RE7

I cant even call it scary its more freaky than anything else. Because the human element is very much present in RE7, I felt the magnitude of fear that youre faced with could be so horrible that it becomes downright disturbing. Its a literal torture ride.

Contrasted with RE8 where, imo, it felt as though there really was only one scenario where you felt like you were in mortal danger

I despise 8. 7 felt like a soft reboot/retuen to less massive outbreaks then we get werewolves, vampires and a very unnecessary villain that is somehow behind everything in the series.

7 I felt terrified for most of the game, even if I went 15 minutes without seeing an enemy. Id still feel leery poking my head around a corner. 8, id walk into a room, see generous caches of ammo and cover everywhere, roll my eyes and think "geeee, I wonder what's about to happen." 8 had its moments. But they were exceptions rather than the rule

The ONLY reason I put Village over 7 is because it has better replay value with new game plus and all the guns and upgrades. And mercs.

But 7 is damn close to the best the series has to offer

You are referring to Miranda? Didn't Spencer just get some inspiration from her and then did his own thing based off the virus found in Africa?

RE7 was boring as hell to me with it's like 4 enemy types (3 different variants of sludge zombies and like....wasps/insects/whatever), boring self-insert MC (who I thought was vastly improved and really became his own character compared to the silent this white guy is you-insert he was in 7) and meh weapon variety. *Part of the fun with any given resident evil game for me is the escalating weapons of power you gather throughout the game*

The main memorable thing about RE7 to me was it's VR mode since that is the first way I played it. Outside of VR it was just blah to me.

EDIT: I was slightly off with the enemy types......3 sludge zomb variants and 3 insects, lol.

I liked RE8/village more in every single way in comparison.

Yeah I give the game that them in-your-face jump scares in VR was what made me actually finish up RE7. Bastards got me a good deal of times with it, lol. After the house the game was pretty lame imo once you make it out of the estate, do that extremely lame story choice that really shouldn't even had been made since the immediate story dlc playing as the uncle made the obvious choice canon regardless, and go on to the boat since from here its just blasting generic sludge zombs until the end.

(Friggin' ma' baker at that one door and whats her name ghost when you turn around after getting that one key item).

I loved in 8 when you gain control of Chris at the end and it shows you how absolutely inferior Ethan is in terms of weaponry. It was a great show of power.

As really awesome as that surprise section as chris and his crew just murking everyone and everything was, I still have to give ethan credit in that not only were you packing serious heat by the point of the game he is incapacitated for a bit you end the whole pre-final battle off in some over the top battle against resident evil magneto riding a chainsaw artillery tank thing in the middle of this magnetic tornado.

Shit was so ridiculous but I loved it. Serious brock samson from the venture bros. energy for that particular battle.
