Its not that we have concrete plans for this, but personally I would have to say Final Fantasy VI. Octopath Traveler the first HD-2D title was developed while referencing FFVI, as it had the highest quality pixel art. I would love to see how the game we referenced would look with the HD-2D art style.

Because this art style itself was created while referencing such titles, its highly compatible with games originally made using pixel art. This compatibility is probably why people feel this style is a match made in heaven with these types of remakes.

Trials of mana-like remake for FF6 at the bare minimum, or actual high-effort FF7 remake/rebirth like remake maximum effort. The pixel remaster for FF6 already looks great as is.

A 2D remake would definitely be the way to go for FF6.

Just add in some new content and maybe voice acting, and we're good to go.

No need to remake pixel games.

But I want a full 3d remake with a decent budget

I just made it to the Pyramid where I'm finally noticing a difficutly spike. My biggest gripe so far is how the game autosaves after every single battle. Aside from making the bank useless, it also sucks away any sense of danger from trecherous dungeons. Party wipe? No biggie, just load your autosave and warp out. Draconian difficulty should have removed the autosave and the autoheal at level up.

yeah or at least I wish we had various options to toggle to make our own difficulty.

thats if they gave it the FF7 remake treatment from what I understand

They should do the rest of the dragon quest games. Those games dont get enough love. Give me an HD-2D remake of the Zenithian trilogy, please.

The guys saying that were assuming it'd be on the same level as an FFVII Remake where it's like full-blown 3D, (likely) action combat, massively expanded lore, etc.

Which, I feel like only FFVII has the privilege to get away with that kind of remake. FFVI and any other RPG doesn't need it to that extent. Hell, a 3D remake along the lines of Trials of Mana and Romancing SaGa 2 would be great and very doable.

My most wanted revival is Dragon Quest IX.
A large part of it is effectively lost media (legally) at this point because almost the entire post-game relied on the old Nintendo Wi-Fi connection to unlock it. Plus DQIX was a great game in its own right.

IX was my introduction to the series.

Bought it 3 times just so I could play through the story without resetting my file lol

I don't think any FF6 remake could be done properly these days, tho... it's not about using an HD-2D engine, there's more going on. Namely, how perfect the monster and backdrop pics are... they actually look like Amano watercolours and every port except the dirty CRT SNES version (errr, and the dirty CRT PS1 version by proxy) got it right
