I cannot understate how this is nothing short of an absolute win for literally every American.

I doubt weve heard the last of it. Theyre relentless in their fuckery.

And now we get to enjoy a massive fight over money between the two.

Is Albertsons unionized? I know Kroger is.

This is a massive victory and they never should have even been allowed to consider doing this. What happened to our anti-monopoly laws?? Prices would have skyrocketed if they were allowed to do this.

Boo! I hate driving 45 minutes to the next town over with Kroger for cheaper groceries when we only have Safeway and Walmart in my small town.

Yeah this didn't need to happen (the idea of a merger, that is).

Kroger (or Fry's Groceries as we call it in my neck of the woods) is already big enough as it is.

The suing changes things but Kroger really wants this.

The solution isn't to make more super large corporations but to break up super large corporations like Walmart and Amazon.

Break ups almost never happen anymore. The last one that actually broke up was AT&T and they all eventually cannibalized each other into two super large telecoms instead of one.

Break ups are in general bad policy. You need laws, actual laws and not simply regulations that force businesses to behave ethically and executives need to be culpable for corporate crimes. Without it, all you're doing with a break up is making it a problem for future generations.

Makes sense. The Trump regime is going to be a shitshow with terrible news happening everyday so it makes sense to bring it back later when they know the merger will be accepted and the news will quickly blow over.

The Albertsons lawsuit might kill this for a while.

used to be like that for walmart (hate going to walmart myself because of the bus time limit) think it was 50 minutes to catch the ride home (not enough time).

since july 2024. i just hit things up on sale since my diet had to turn healthier (less carbs, more vegetables and a serving of fruit).

on topic, kroger at times costs more for grocery's (unless they sale stuff) compared to safeway prices.
