It wasn't bad, but I also feel like it was a bit too fast-paced, especially up to when they went to the Jungle Kingdom. I know they only had an hour and a half to tell its story, but still.

Not sure how I feel about them incorporating game mechanics in a film, even if it is Super Mario Bros. (floating platforms; losing power-ups after getting hit once). I do appreciate that this was the most evil Bowser's been depicted in a good while, even if his whole motivation came down to being in love with Peach (so, not far removed from the games, but far more pettier on his part), and that Peach was actually doing shit instead of just being a damsel-in-distress (that role went to Luigi, in a film called Super Mario Bros., but at least they both lived up to that title in the final battle). Also appreciate the cameos from Diddy, Dixie, and Chunky Kong, the latter of whom has not had a single appearance since DK64; I was surprised that Yoshi didn't appear except for a brief shot in a horde, but then there was the post-credits scene.

Not a great film, but enjoyable.

It was fine for what it was

Eh, I didn't hate it. Even found it fun, though mindless.

I liked it when it came out but there was really nothing to it in retrospect. Like everything else modern mario, it felt incredibly homogenized.

For me, it was sublime. Edibles probably helped.

I mean - for a video game adaptation of Mario and with the target audience being kids, they absolutely nailed it.

its not a cinematic masterpiece by any stretch. But they absolutely did the right thing by not wasting time developing a silly backstory for Mario and Luigi. The family had just enough screen exposure to expand on them a bit more.

these characters are iconic, most people and children know who they are. It did its job and Im excited for the sequel as is my daughter.
