Has your agency commented yet on a realistic way to bring all of your colleagues back into the office?

No. We're still waiting on guidence. It will be easy to bring us all back, though. We still have all our buildings and already come in once a week.

Wife is remote work.

And no not really? She never really had an office to go to.

But they are saying if we live within 50 miles of an office than they need to place her there. But that's pretty much all she knows. Her boss is still waiting for guidance/orders on how to place her there.

For a while now we've been worried we'd have to relocate to DC. So hopefully she does get to go to that office. It's only 20 minutes from us.

Nope, there's no plan, and that's part of the point. They want people to quit in frustration, to constructively dismiss us, for people to not get any work done when we're there, so they can justify defunding, privatizing, and abolishing our offices and work. If we stay and obey, that's fine with them. If we leave, that's fine with them.

The only thing that's not fine with them is fighting and defeating them.

My wife works remotely.

They're still waiting on official guidance but it very well might be 5-days a week. She has an office down there but she's not looking forward to the daily hike.

Most likely will have to RTO 5 days a week within 30 days...rip. Started taking down anything with the words deia and inclusion from just about every webapp/sites here. Feels awkward being the grunt doing it.

The director hosted a meeting about it last Thursday and said that they weren't given any orders for RTO since DoD is on the exempt list for that and hiring freezes. We're also not affected by DEI because it wasn't a thing for us even though we work with a number of HBCUs (along with a ton of PWIs)

I'm a county level worker and literally just months ago I was thinking if I wanted to move up in my career then I need to work at a federal level. I no longer feel that way. I'm happy working for my county.

I'm genuinely curious what is their plan to fit everyone into these office.

A lot of these agencies do not have the space to return to an office. Some dont even have an office.

My wife is a fed that teleworks two days each week. She points out that the order is vague regarding teleworking vs. remote work. For example, what happens when dealing deadlines outside local core hours?

I am currently an off-site Federal Contractor (I've been on on-site contracts at various times in the past).

But to TC's point, no, there is not enough room at her agency or mine, and the parking situation is even worse (including private lots), whether you are looking at the facilities or public transportation hubs.

My wife has been stressed out for months really. She knew this was coming. The last week alone was really rough for her.

This may affect us in a lot more ways than her just having to go to an office.
