I watch a ton of tv. Im assuming by the context you mean your classic NBC, CBS, ABC? Not really outside sports. Most of my stuff is cable tv but plenty of channels push an OTA signal if thats what you mean?

But yeah I still have a cable subscription and I watch many hours every day. I enjoy tv.

Not really. There is a youtube TV account managed under my name because certain members of my family loves their NBA+NFL+MLB (the NBA and NFL in particular know just how much power they wield over the general united states population and thus it is set up in a way where it is impossible to get the NFL and NBA in one convenient app type place. Cable providers know this also and thus why its set up the way it is. Something like youtube TV (or hulu's equivalent, which is basically the exact same price) is the only way that guarantees maximum coverage for all the sports balls both major and local, and youtube TV has currently the best DVR out of all these type of services).

Even on the cheapest streaming cable option sling requires a sportsball enjoyer to get both the blue half and the orange half since NFL and NBA related things (for stuff like the league games, local games etc) is perfectly split down the middle ensuring people will be getting both halves and thus prices creeping up on what youtube TV and hulu live charges anyway.

Only sports fans of just like say, MLB, soccer, or NHL have a easier time making due with something like just espn+ plus like a antennae for local sports games or something like that.

But yeah, the fam gives me money to have youtube TV running under my g oogle account. Personally I only ever use it to watch like, a hour or 2 of toonami on saturdays, but this is in no way mandatory since the kind of things that is playing on toonami I already seen years ago in other places, and most of the toonami original series they come up with his ass with stuff like the shenmue anime being the exception.

Im old. But seriously for all the complaining I love cable tv. If I want to jump from HBO, Starz, Showtime, to ESPN or Paramount or whatever channel its one click of a button and a split second later Im there. No log in, no signing in and launching a different app. No delay, no hassle, no bullshit. I realize there are services out there that put multiple things and packages under one thing to make it easier but I still find it far more annoying than cable.

When I stream at work I hate fucking around with all the individual logins and different apps. I love cable. The biggest complaint about cable was price and commercials and Im fine with what I pay considering all I get. I record the shows on my DVR and skip commercials and there are none on movie channels.

As for live sports youre watching commercials and having pauses no matter what. So yeah I love cable.

How much is a cable TV service nowadays? Are you paying for something separate or as part as a internet package?

Where I live at and after tax is added to the equation the monthly youtube TV charges is now 89.63. My uncle is starting to sweat about the price now (this was like the most recent youtube TV hike that started at the beginning of this year) and so I told him I could try looking for something cheaper but if not its the price he has to pay to get both upcoming NBA games and also MLB games in a single spot.

Like with an antenna? My family does, there's a bunch of Spanish channels that they enjoy watching. When I had cable TV those were the only channels they would watch so it made no sense to pay for cable every month so I made the switch to antenna after COVID and we really haven't missed cable TV

Well I have a massive tv package. Its all special movie channels like HBO, Starz, Showtime, sports package, highest tier available. It comes with like a few hundred channels. I get like multiple discovery, history channels that I love. I have multiple DVRs. Just an absolute ton of stuff I use.

Its all one big bill with my Internet and my landline phone as well. The cable tv part of my bill is roughly $250 a month total. To me its pretty reasonable though Im sure CE would disagree. But my tv is on all the time when Im not working or sleeping. If I trimmed some of the extras like just the 3 movie channels I could still have a robust tv package in the high $100 range with close to 200 channels

The other benefit is since I pay for cable I still have access to the app/streaming by just logging in with my cable provider so its not like I can only watch HBO live. I can still launch the app and binge a show if I want. Or I can do it right through my cable box with the on demand service which is like using an app but just accessing the content right through the cable box.

For as big a part of my life that tv is Im fine with the price. Though again Im sure many on CE would balk at that.

More people are switching to Live TV streaming services like

YouTube TV
Hulu Live
FUBO

Where I live you cant even get cable anymore. The only company that had it, dropped it a few years ago.

i watch an hour or so of Good Morning America every morning with my mom while i drink my coffee and let my lower back pain mellow out, and we watch Jeopardy every night at 7. sometimes i watch other stuff but it's pretty rare. right now there is a nature special on NBC narrated by Tom Hanks we've been watching that's pretty interesting.

I have a similar package going on. It is nice to just run through the guide you can almost always find something to have on. Plus with Showtime, TMC, etc, I have noticed their late night offerings are a bit more revealing than they used to be (still nothing like you would see online though).
