if you're like me and got youtube algorithm'd some Finnegan Fox videos during the pandemic, it's that lady.

this is tragic for a variety of reasons but she pretty much dedicated her life to helping animals that couldn't fight for themselves and somehow that made some people angry? I don't get it, man.

The conception looks like it was a snark reddit claiming things like animal abuse, generally being terrible people etc as reddit does. She suffered from some mental disorders that exacerbated the bullying. Ethan also claims there some people in her personal life that partook as well which made it extra difficult for her to endure.

Oh my gosh WHAT!? I've followed the YouTube channel for years but avoid social media (for good reason apparently) so I had no idea this was going on, and this is all deeply upsetting to me. May she RIP

From what I gather it was a lot of pro-fur/fur farm people just trying to shit on her (since she helped save a lot of foxes from fur farms). So it was bullying with intent.

She had a daughter recently too, which makes this even more miserable. From all the videos I've seen, she seemed like one of the most genuine people out there and the foxes loved her.

If I've learned anything from my niece working at the county canine control it's that there's a lot of highschool-level feuding and bullying between various animal rescue organizations and prominent figures in the scene so in a way this doesn't surprise me. And I don't mean like highschool or college age people, these are full grown adults

It's always some made up shit like "This place is secretly beating their dogs" and then they flood the comments on every post of theirs on social media

I have never heard of her or SaveAFox before but I am so saddened by this.

Reportedly people in her personal life were doing it too so just ignoring the internet likely wasn't going to be enough.

Wasn't familiar with her but everything about this story is awful. RIP.

Reddit has so many of these disgusting communities online that just band together to relentlessly harass people in their real lives daily. It's demented if you ever step into one of them, and it's just an echo chamber of negative, terrible people coming up with new reasons to hate on the person.

The craziest thing is that Reddit picks and chooses which communities like this that they remove. They have worked with some people to shut down these harassment communities while outright refusing to do anything about others.

And apparently some of them have employees who work for Reddit involved in them from a moderator or frequent user level, which is why some are granted more protection than others.

There needs to be an investigation on Reddit because this kind of thing should never be allowed. It's vile.

This is another twisted part of these Reddit communities. They just make shit up. They outright make up LIES and the rest of them just eat it up and take it as fact, and then they signal boost it to other places, and how does one person even combat an organized campaign to destroy someone?

Yes. Some people go to Reddit and ask that their hater communities be removed and they work with them to do so. Some people even get them removed the second they are created without even saying anything.

And then sometimes they get told they aren't violating any rules or anything and that there's nothing they can do, despite organizing harassment among other things that are far worse than any communities that get removed.

Reddit staff KNOWS these hater pages exist and they don't have any consistent enforcement about it, because some of them work there and participate in it.

Her husband posted a video on their channel. Obviously, he is fucking destroyed. Near the end he addresses the cyberbullies. This part fucking wrecked me to the point where I had to pause the video - "I wish you had to see tiny heartbroken Freya try to understand why she could never see her mommy again."

People never stop to think what their unchecked and unbridled negativity might cause. No one should have to avoid any place just because their might be some people there that want to hurt them; the people are the problem, not the person they're bullying. It should never be up to that person to do anything about it; a lot of times, the people lack the mental fortitude in the first place. There are a lot of places that foster it, Reddit happens to be the worst though. I know there are a lot of great communities of people brought together by the site, but there are so many subreddits that exist just to hate the thing they're supposed to be there to enjoy with others. Truly a cesspool.

I had only seen a few of these videos, and it's been a while. The name Finnegan did remind me of it, definitely have seen during phases it was recommended to me. That's really sad that something that seemed so wholesome ended up this way, hard to believe really since I didn't know anything bad was going on.
