I thought you could go Sector X (which is better than Solar in my opinion) and then go to Macbeth from there.

EDIT: But I agree with your path, except I would go for Katina and then Sector X, merely for points.

I think the fight with Star Wolf early, rescue Slippy.

Hard route has that awful sub stage, and you dont see Star Wolf until much later. Plus, the route I mention fleshes out more characters and makes the team seem more tight-knight and ride-or-die.

I always go:

Corneria > Sector Y > Katina > Sector X > Macbeth > Area 6 > Venom II

Sector Y has mechs, Katina is Independence Day, Macbeth has a train, Venom II gives you the runback vs Star Wolf

Always 7 missions. The best one doesn't have Fichina or Bolse in it.

The full hard path is the most fun, IMO, Aquas/Zoness/Sector Z/Area 6 is an incredible sequence of levels

You can go to Macbeth from Sector X. Slippy has to get shot down by the boss iirc and then the gang goes down to Macbeth to get him

It's backwards, if Slippy gets hit by the boss, the crew goes to Titania I believe. From Sector X, you can actually get to the three routes

Easy Route Titania - If Slippy gets tagged
Normal Route Macbeth - If you defeat the boss with Slippy intact
Hard Route Sector Z - With the Portal.

I could be pretty easily swayed to do Meteo > Fortuna as 2 and 3 instead tbh. But I typically forget you only get the 'first' encounter with them on Fortuna or Bolse.

I always go to Aquas it has my favorite song from the game. Independence Level is also my favorite one

Aquas isn't a ton of fun but it's the only way to get to Zoness, which is worth it. Zoness to Macbeth to Area 6 is my favourite 3-level sequence in the game.

Very nice selection, here, and I definitely agree with the Zoness>Macbeth>Area 6 trio being peak.

Zoness is one of the best levels but it force you into Aquas, the 2nd worst level. The worst is Sector Z.

Everytime I read the word Zoness I just hear Peppy in my head.

I wasn't any huge fan of Aquas due to how slow it is, but I'm not sure I'd call it within the bottom 2. I always hated Titania, Sector Z is a mess, and Bolse is very dull.

The ending of Macbeth is amazing but the rest of it involves driving the shitty tank. Sector Z gives you an Arwing

Even if you're not a fan of the Landmaster, how can you say no to the memetic Forever Train Conductor? :D

Plus, I know force feedback is standard issue on all controllers nowadays, but if you're old enough to have played the original SF64 at launch and had it be your first Rumble Pak game, the demolition of the base in the Mission Accomplished ending was one heck of a mission statement. Those first few little explosions, and then the BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM... magnifique.

Complete route is the most fun for a reason

This. It's also a great High Score route, though Katina kinda drags it down a bit.

Of course, EVERY route has at least one stage that's hard to get a decent score in: Fortuna, Katina, Sector Z, Aquas, Bolse...

It's kind of amazing how the 3DS version redid EVERY line, using the same actors, with only very minor differences ("Hey genius" instead of "Hey Einstein" being the only real standout)

The ship to ship communication sounds better with compression

It was my first N64 game period and it's a cherished memory when the factory gets blown to smithereens... I still prefer Sector Z as a level

I think the compressed lines have some charm to them, especially since you can consider it radio chatter. That said, they probably had to compress the lines to fit on the limited space of an early N64 cartridge.

NGL, the uncompressed version makes it sound like Falco has less of a NY accent to my ears.

And I hate it.
