Off day for KC. It would be really nice if the Royals could actually win a series against Cleveland (their opponentsthis weekend). It seems like they've absolutely owned them forever and a day. Dude is 22 years old and that was his 66th MLB game, making him both the youngest and fastest player to have a 4 HR game (20th player to ever do so; he is the 2nd player to record 19 total bases in a single game) and the only rookie to ever accomplish the feat. A 4 HR game hadn't happened in 8 years entering the season, but this is the 2nd one to happen in 2025 after Eugenio Saurez did it in April (which I also geeked out over lol).

Seems one way (Jacob Wilson) or another (Kurtz), the Athletics are going to have the AL Rookie of the Year.

Bubic just threw his 40th pitch in the 1st inning. I don't know wth is happening with him. I sure hope it's not prelude to an injury. He already had TJ surgery in 2023.

The Royals are apparently keeping Seth Lugo. He was expected to be trade target but they've extended him and have given him a raise.

Because of his age, he probably wouldn't have warranted a meaningful return of prospects but it's still a bit surprising. Hopefully, he can keep on pitching like a gem.

Cleveland closer, Clase, put on non disciplinary leave because he's in the middle of a gambling investigation... Ouch

I'd be surprised if Clase was really doing anything wrong, but nevertheless, I'd love to see the sport distance itself from the sportsbook junk shoved into every game, pregame, MLB Network show, etc. Maybe Santa'll do me a solid this year.

Maybe that will be one of the PA's demands next year. I'm sure the players are sick of getting hate when fans lose a prop bet. It's probably too late, but maybe people will cool down a bit when it's not as in your face

Yeah, there are stories about players and their families getting harassed over gambling-related crap. I think I heard Kyle Tucker (or some other Astro) went through that stuff this year, plus Lucas Giolito and Logan Webb? Something like that, and I'm sure there's many, many more.

He wouldn't miss location so many times if something wasn't very wrong. Huge loss for the almost .500 Royals who are already without last year's ace, Cole Ragans, (who is making some progress in recovering while on the 60 day IL; could be back latw August/early September) and back end starter Michael Lorenzen who is on the 15 day IL.

It's no wonder they held onto Lugo, though his performance and "late bloom" as a starter have certainly merited a reward.

... That fucking sucks. Sandberg was one of those guys I liked "on another team" growing up as a kid. I have been a baseball fan for as long as I can remember, definitely as early as like 1989. I remember Sandberg being really cool and I liked to see him do well.

It happens to everyone. Time is merciless. We just have to remember the good times, as best as we can.

Jays are losing some steam here with all these games in a row. Lost big to the O's last night and again this morning in the first game of a double header.

Between games the O's traded Seranthony Dominguez to the Jays for a prospect. I guess that makes the trip to his new team a short one, lol.

I feel like we get players traded to teams they are currently playing against frequently enough (a few times a decade) but doing it between games if a doubleheader is like perfect game rare
