On Jan 1 of this year I started attacking my steam library alphabetically - to beat EVERY game I have, about 1500

there was a fun topic on it but, yadda yadda yadda, 4 months later I'm now back and up to COSTUME QUEST!!!

To see what that means, here's my list of games alphabetically: https://steamcommunity.com/id/Lokarin/games/?tab=all&sort=name

.

Here's my current deferred list: These are games I couldn't finish for various reasons:

  • Achron - too confusing
  • Ampersand - worst racing game of all time, likely impossible
  • Assetto Corsa - I can't seem to get good
  • BEEP - physical health, the screen flashes and wiggles a lot... I pick at it occasionally, making progress
  • BitTrip Beat and BitTrip Flux - the final boss in both are too hard
  • Boson X - unknown, I may have beaten it but I can't tell
  • Card Hunter - a live service card game. It's a good game, but you can only do so many missions a day so I pick at it
  • Cart Life - doesn't work properly in current windows (it runs far too fast)
  • Clergy Splode - can't progress even when winning
  • Commandos 2 and 3 - doesn't load
  • Cosmic Rocket Defender - first boss is impossible

Crimson Diamond down... rather nice

I tried to push the parser to the limits and only found less than a handful of reasonable queries that weren't answered by the game... I mentioned them in the suggestions forum :D

would recommend

Next games up are:

Critical Mass
Crossout
Crusader Kings 1 and 2...

Since Crusader Kings is, like, kinda like Civ - the goal will be a victory on the lowest possible difficulty, if my default run fails

Crossout is an MMO... which I have rules for:

If it was World of Warcraft I could skip it, it's open world with no "main" quest (DLC doesn't count, so no need to do Lich King stuff)

If it was Final Fantasy XI I can't skip it, because there IS a main quest (DLC doesn't count, so just the shadowlord)

...Crossout, despite being unplayably crappy... DOES have a campaign with a few missions. Ya, it wouldn't take long

However, you have to, y'know, actually be able to PLAY the game to do so!! It's a weird case of an MMO where you have to successfully matchmake to get into the world; like if you called Diablo 2 an MMO but the only way you can log in is to join someone elses game before you can start your own game.

How do you even win Crusader Kings?

I don't know how actions relate to Rank points; which is the victory condition... ya?

Also not sure why they keep telling me, the Irish, to invade Kuwait... they're REALLY far away! I'd need like 10'000 gold in reserve to get over thar

...

Anyways; Crossout is still on the table as is CK1 and 2, although I uninstalled CK1 out of rage.

Crusaders of the Lost and Crush Crush are both idle games; they don't seem to have a 'main' campaign, but I'm told Crush Crush does; luckily, as idle games, I can keep both of them running at the same time in the background while playing something else.

Problem with CK2, I can't seem to increase the font size; it's very hard to read.

CK is a sandbox game. "Winning" all depends on how you start the game and the goals (if you even choose to have any). I'm sure there's a score tally like in EU4 or Stellaris but it's not the point (unless you want it to be).

A beginner goal is to start in Ireland and you "win" by creating the Irish tag: https://crusaderkings-two.fandom.com/wiki/Kingdom_of_Ireland

It's fun, but it can be frustrating if you don't choose to play the game as a story simulator as a lot of things are there to fuck you up (assassinations, gay kings that don't want to procreate with women, Gavelkind succession law, etc). Imo I'd just play a game to try and form ireland and see what fucks you up the fastest and cause your lineage to die out. Tell someone the story and that's the CK2 experience.

I'd skip it on the basis that typically the paradox games have typically superseded the previous game especially at this stage in their life cycles (DLCs, patches). So yea, for backlog purposes definitely.

I beat the main campaign in Crossout, it's not that long.

I've been fidgeting with Crusader Kings 2, but to no avail. I mean, when the game presents me with claims and duties I know how to capitalize on them... but sometimes my grandson will just be a do-nothing for 60 years and I have ot just... wait (mostly because I've been insisting on starting as a Count, not a higher rank)

...

Also procrastinating because if I were to call CK2 a win, afterall I DID manage to... live long enough for the game to end?, anways; the next game is

Crypt of the Necrodancer!

I haven't actually beaten it, but I do really like the game so I wanna get on thar

Beat Crypt of the Necrodancer... and because I was on a roll I beat it some more with other characters.

Next game on the list is... Crystal Caves, like, Apogee from the 90s! I can skip Episode 1 since I've long since done that 30 years ago.

Also Crusaders of the Lost Idols and Crush Crush continue to idle... I hope I don't have a bunch more idling games with stories in them.

After Crystal Caves is Crystals of Time, which I think is one of them stupid hidden object games; I hope it's higher resolution than the last few

I think what most people consider a "win" in CK2 is picking a nation and forming it, the most straightforward yet engaging enough of which would be Ireland (it's literally tutorial island in 3). my personal goal was usually to spread zoroastrianism enough to where it could spread organically without being stamped out immediately

You win CK by surviving to the end which is 1453.

I once had the Kingdom of Hungary but somebody rebelled and took it from me. So I assassinated every member of his family and he died of depression.

I only play with the Game of Thrones mod now though. The CK2 mod is better than the CK3 one since they for some reason they don't have the Jon Snow part in that one yet.

Cubemen 2 didn't seem to have a campaign other than defense training so I did the 15 missions there

Cubic Castles is... a weird minecraft thing and I have no idea what's going on because it's ALL banners and weirdness

It's like a shitty version of Rimworld only you can't see or understand anything

Furthermore, this almost wraps up all the C games, which means D - and while I will like Danganronpa 3.. I have to beat Darksiders 1 3 times, and Darksiders 2 twice.

Of the two, I'd say Cultures 4 (8th Wonder of the World) is the best one due to adding a few automation features, but Cultures 3 lets you zoom in so you can see Hatchie's cuteness

Next on list:

Curse of Nordic Cove
Cursed to Golf
Cute Things Dying Violently

So, like Teleglitch, I have deferred a game for Health and Safety reasons.

What was the last boss in Bit.Trip Beat....? Ah, right, literally pong. Then it divides or something IIRC (been a while since I last played through it on Wii). Definitely gets tight and intense. How's the Steam version control? The Wii version had great precision control; you held the Wii remote horizontally, and moved the paddle by rotating it forward and back, it's hard to imagine playing it any other way. Ha, now I want to give it a replay, which I absolutely have the means of doing.

Ok, the control is smooth and mousely; but the wii version just felt good to play

The final boss is literally pong, but there's a problem... it's unbeatable in the PC version because the AI uses your CPU cycles, and a computer is a LOT more powerful than a Wii

Youch, that's gotta be something the devs should do something about.

As for me playing it on the Wii U, transferred from the Wii when I got it, three attempts in going from the beginning, I always lose in Growth before even making it to the boss. Not sure how much blame to allocate to getting rusty, getting old, or input lag (I am playing with Game Mode turned on, so...), but I am seeing improvement. I got all the pieces of most of the shattering blue dots in Growth last time, and I even got a new high score (on the bottom-most slot) in Descent. I suppose I should probably play actiony/twitchy games more often; I mostly favor games where most of the mind-load is on planning and preparation than making snap actions at a moment's notice.

Ok, Danganronpa V3 done; that final case is whacky

Here's the upcoming list

Dark Ages (which I think is an Apogee game); no longer available on Steam
The Dark Eye: Chains of Sanity (Daedalic Entertainment.. they make, things)
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (never played before)

I'm also going to reinforce a previous rule I had. If I have multiple versions of a game, even if both games have their own achievements, I'm only going to do ONE of them... cuz I just realized I made that call earlier with the Avernum/Exile games way back in 'A'. That means I can skip half my Darksiders.

After that is Dark Void and Dark Void Zero... and finally; DARKEST DUNGEON. Technically I did beat this game, but that was so long ago the final boss isn't even the same any more

Meanwhile, in idle games: I've reached the maximum boost in Crush Crush of 2048x so now there's no reason to even turn the game on... I just gotta check in once a week to spend coins. and for Crusaders of the Lost Idols, I know the final mission because you have to beat it to get access to dungeons... but I can't FIND the final mission so, ehhhhh, I'm sure it'll show up eventually.

I wanna say more about Dark Messiah of Might and Magic... the level design was top notch. I wouldn't mind if the game was a smidge higher paced, but that's just modern conventions since the game came out in like 2006

Who made this? Arkane? Geez, everything they make is great

Anyways; Dark Ages was... disappointed. Well, Apogee technically HAD to have a worst game and that was it.

Dark Eye Chains of Satinav is point and click adventure Daedalic entertainment fare... but some of the puzzles are HELLA stupid, I just don't like the genre. (Crimson Diamond was good though)

Lucky me! I've already done ALL the Dark Souls

...

Dark Void was also really fun, the vertical cover mechanic was really cool and it has some pretty nice stuff in it. I like how each level is highly themed so if you replay the game you can just do the chapters you like and skip the rest.

Dark Void Zero, on the other hand, they tried to be an 8-bit hard style game but it's just weaksauce. Well, some of it is ok, but mainly the controls are too crunchy (I probably coulda fixed that tho). Not terrible, just mid. As a novelty back in 2010 it's fine, but ya.

So, new MAIN EVENT

It's time to actually delve into the DARKEST DUNGEON(Registered Trademark) and get the new and improved legitimate ending and not the beta ending that I already have,... and that was before achievements were added; houndmaster didn't even exist as an 'upcoming DLC' at the time.

Anyone wanna join in on some Butcher's Circus(Registered Trademark) Adventure(Registered Trademark)?
