What the hell is anyone who is playing the game for the first time supposed to get out of this other than utter confusion at what the fuck these people are talking about. The game just stops for like 8 minutes to spew nonsense at you that has basically no relevancy to anything else in the game and is just a tie in to future games. Why would someone experiencing the game need to consider any of this in their attempts to understand the already convolutedness of the plot threads? It's only going to confuse them more when they think they have to incorporate these concepts and Aqua's armour into the mix.

Also talking about the preceeding scene of Xemnas slow walking down the stairs to the chamber and chatting with the armour, but I felt it would make more sense to just post the nonsense spouting.

Subsequent titles live in their own reality that should be isolated for the good of mankind. This scene is that reality attempting a KH2 board invasion.

Is that the group of cutscenes they shoved into the middle of the battle of Hollow Bastion? I remember playing FM for the first time and thinking that was a wild choice. It's such a lull when there's a big dramatic clash going on between Nobodies, Heartless, various Disney characters, and various Final Fantasy characters.

I mean, that's pretty much the point. It assumes you've already played the vanilla game, so these new scenes are really just commercials for the games they're currently working on. They're only interesting to people who are keeping track of the plot.

Sadly, most of these scenes don't actually go anywhere interesting. Like Aqua being Xemnas's "friend."

I prefer the Final Mixes adding in scenes like this rather than KH3's approach, where the base game itself now has entire 8-minute long scenes that halt the main plot to jangle plot threads for future games in front of your face.

KH2 remains the only game where I've skipped nearly every cutscene.

There nothing worth watching or investing into with that dialogue and story, which is weird cuz I came in from GBA CoM and loved it

I'm pretty sure they are assuming you played the vanilla game and are only playing final mix for the "new stuff".

Honestly, KH2 was the point that I completely gave up on the series.

The streamlined gameplay didn't do it for me and the game was way too easy to hold my attention for as long as it demanded. While the controls are an improvement, the game feels too much like an amusement park ride than a genuine adventure like the original.

I also really don't like it's style of storytelling. The original was nonsensical and full of unexplained shit, but it was compartmentalized to one game, so it felt more like an actual mystery.

I've seen so much material on KH2 and subsequent games from my KH obsessed sister over the years that I would say in confidence that KH is one of the most cynically told stories in the video game medium. Literally everything that happens is a form of sequel bait, so it's a story where simultaneously everything and nothing happens at the same time.

Not everything has to have a concrete point or answer, but it feels like KH isn't even trying to entertain half the time. It's just desperately trying to get you to care about these characters so you'll buy yet another game where nothing happens.
