On average yes, because there are many fewer different configurations of Apple laptop than Windows. They don't have to support every garbage WiFi adapter or display chip or trackpad or whatever on the market, just the ones they approve. ... Copied to Clipboard!

1000% yes. They are at a baseline much more stable. Yes you can find weirdness and inconsistencies within the OS at a granular level, but as an overall package and experience, macOS runs circles around Windows. --- Kind reminder not to defend corporations when they make dumb/anti-consumer decisions. ... That depends on what youre asking about. For general note taking, development, web browsing, etc., yes, because if you put an M silicon MacBook in a backpack and forget it for a month, the battery will basically be where you left it. If you do the same to a Windows laptop, it will probably have a dead battery in 4 or 5 days at the latest. For gaming, absolutely fucking not. Though Id argue you should only ever buy a gaming laptop if you need to travel all the time for work or something. In general, Id say yes, because macOS is UNIX based and thus its underpinnings are just much better than those of Windows, while its UX is at least unified and Windows now has about 5 different UXs, none of which are particularly good. --- https://store.steampowered.com/wishlist/profiles/76561198052113750 ... My last Apple laptop lasted me about 7 years. My Windows-using friends went through multiple laptops in that same amount of time. Hell, I'm pretty sure my parents' Apple desktop is at least 10 years old at this point and still chugging along. You pay more upfront, but it always seems to be worth it in the end, from my experience. --- "Bro Just Let Me Karate Chop You And You Can Have As Many Skateboards As You Want" ... The reason its so dominant is support coupled with backwards compatibility. Basically 99% of software works on Windows, and a significant portion of that only works on Windows (or through Proton / WINE on Linux). Even though 99% of games will just work out of the box on Linux now, there are decades of mod managers, save editors, trainers, cheat engines, etc., all these applications around gaming that will either only work on Windows or require you to setup manual WINE bottles etc. Most people hate Windows (and rightly so), but its still the easiest path to do what they want with their computer. --- https://store.steampowered.com/wishlist/profiles/76561198052113750 ...
