He is probably the best writer in the industry and he released a few travellouge videos and i think they're a masterpiece. His videos' length are insane, but he does franchise wide essay. For example his resident evil video is 7 hours long, but on average he put 30 minutes - 1 hour per game, so the length is actually reasonable, unlike say, joseph anderson who spent 2-5 hours on a single game which is imo too bloated. Jacob geller: another essayist but with different style and themes. He usually pick a theme and then elaborate from lists of media that share those themes. majuular. Also essayist but focus more on review and retrospective. He is hilarious and the script is very witty. I think his best work is his retrospective on ultima series which is still ongoing. Shell go hours without saving (even though theres been multiple chances to do a save), get killed in combat or game crashes, forcing her to redo entire sections. And then when she redoes them, she forgets to do things that are important because shes rushing to get up to speed again. Its pretty infuriating, so I dont watch her much anymore. My Life in Gaming - within the Digital Foundry multiverse - very, very well informed technical analysis and attention to detail for retro gaming. Jeremy Parish - Fantastic retrospectives on the 80s and early 90s era of gaming Wrestling with Gaming - amazing mini documentaries, and again no garbage in the video. It's all straight and to the point. Yahel is super chill. Displaced Gamers - A newer channel, but great at breaking down technical quirks of the NES and other early consoles. This channel does a MUCH better job at explaining things than say, "Retro Video Game Mechanics Explained" which gets way too deep and loses me very quickly. By comparison, Displaced Gamers balances it much better. The Geek Critique - Very focused reviews on specific game franchises.
