The Phantom Menace: first time I've seen it since it was in theaters, was pretty fun. The podracing scenes were still amazing. The first few scenes with all the CGI/costumed characters felt like every sci-fi parody I've seen since then. idk, 8/10?

Attack of the Clones: first time I've watched this, probably an 8/10 as well? It had some great scenes and some bad parts. I think this Anakin is much more annoying than child Anakin, who was clearly just forced to memorize his lines and wasn't acting.

I haven't seen ep3, but I have seen 4-7, and have not seen 8 & 9. so this should be a fun ride.

14 is certainly going to be more of a task that I was planning to undertake.

We just watched that this afternoon. The rest of the family finally caught up with me and finished Andor, so we all watched the movie and it is still great. It was my third time seeing it, but my kids had not seen it before.

My youngest son loved the Andor series and the movie, and is now into Star Wars in a way he has never been before. Yay!

Don't watch the Ewok movies. But if you insist, they fit between 5 and 6. But don't.
Clone Wars is between 2 and 3, but it's pretty much just the pilot for the tv show. If you're not going to watch that (also between 2 and 3), you can skip it, too.

Don't skip Solo or Rogue One, between 3 and 4.

I like doing this and I think theyre all good in their own ways. I used to dislike everything other than the original trilogy, but thats a closed minded way to see things so I gave them a chance again and enjoyed them.

Im on a similar watch through but I havent been able to bring myself to start Ep 9.

I love 4-5-6 though (especially 4) and the PT is a pretty good time too.

Depends if we're counting TV movies. A lot of people wouldn't, but there's an argument for it. Clone Wars definitely does count, though clearly not at the level of Rogue One/Solo

EDIT: Oh yeah, his name was revealed in the 1976 novelization of A New Hope.

Do they call him Senator Palpatine in Ep 1? Not that many people would have known his name, but those who studied the expanded universe would have known this. And they made it really obvious that he was not trustworthy.

However, the transition from Ep 3 Yoda to Ep 5 Yoda will be particularly jarring. He goes from wise Jedi master to mischievous muppet. Order of release works much better for his character. Same with the Leia/Luke thing, as well as Anakin/Vader, and then also the spoiler at the end of Ep 5.

I haven't attempted watching that dreck in 20 years, and the last time was the drinking game, and I couldn't make it to the end. Guaranteed, I've completed the Lego Star Wars game more times than I've watched any of the prequels.

Oh yeah I definitely remember Palpatine being a bad guy from the original movies. I forgot that his Sith name would be different from his regular person name

Yeah the Holiday Special and Ewok movies suck. No joke thoughthe LEGO Holiday Special is actually kinda good. I like it anyway. Watch it after episode IX if you want.

I didn't marathon them, but I tried rewatching all 3 trilogies a few years ago. I fell asleep halfway through AotC and didn't bother to go further. Last time I tried to make it through TRoS I passed out after around 40min.

That's ultimately why I give the ST a slight edge over the PT: with the former I can at least make it to the 3rd movie before I faint from boredom.

At least to OT held up imo. I recently burned through them after finishing Andor + Rogue One and I still love 'em.

I did this recently, though over a longer span, and included a little more. I did 1>2>3>Obi-Wan Kenobi>Solo>Rogue One>4>5>6>7>8>9. Technically, I think Solo takes place slightly before Kenobi, but they're completely separate and work better thematically with 3 leading into Kenobi and Solo leading into Rogue One.

I'm genuinely surprised you enjoyed it enough to rank it that high tbh. AotC was for me when the shine really started to fall off the apple for the SW franchise. TPM for me had enough high points to help gloss over the flaws, but AotC committed the worst blockbuster sin there is by being flat-out boring to the point where even the hype moments couldn't make up for it overall.

yeah the more I thought about it, there were really only a couple big moments. I thought the fight between Yoda and Dooku would be longer.

and the whole chase scene at the beginning was pretty silly

General Grievous was pretty badass with his 4 lightsabers. If Obi Wan didn't have that plot armor, he'd definitely be dead.

Does force lightning drain people's life force instead of just electrocuting them? Palpatine went from regular looking old guy to monster face in like 5 seconds.

I took an intermission to grind some credits in gran turismo 7, finishing now >_>

Its been a long time since Ive seen Solo or Rogue One (since they came out in theaters), but does Solo have any actual story threads that are mentioned or followed up in Rogue One or Andor?

I ask because I was planning on rewatching Rogue One before I see Andor for the first time, but if Solo leads into Rogue One like you said here, then I might have to throw that one on too before I start Andor.

Aside from Maul, I don't think anything in Solo is relevant or brought up again.
