Anything close to CE on other sites? With the community it used to have and everything? We used to have the AIM chats, the tinychat, the Discord, so much stuff and now CE is just depressing... the CE of 2010/2011 was so great! Even 2016-2019 CE was pretty cool and it has just been slowly dying. The decision to close CE was so odd.

I was a troll back in the days, I started coming on to CE when I was 12 and I remember constantly talking about being 13 back then. All of my accounts got banned except this one and one other. I doubt anyone would remember my old username and I'm not sure if I even want to say it

Well the 2017-2019 era of CE wasn't bad either. I didn't mind it. Seems like after the pandemic is when it got bad.

Lol you're probably right. Omg I remember all the account suicides and stuff that used to happen here... kind of reminds me of KF actually (idk if I can say the full name of the site). The thing with KF though is it's pretty much only for hating people, which I don't like.

Eh there are probably some niche forums that have a similar vibe. But nothing as big as what CE was in its heyday

The Discord wasn't around then. How would you know about the Discord if you're an old user who randomly came back to CE today?

And that is why to me all of gamefaqs has always largely been like 95% of people I mentally ignore and 5% cool ones I engage with. That was always the main demographic of this place. I started coming here 20+ years ago but the difference was I was in my late 20's and most here were these school age teenage kids that were pretty damn annoying.

Now it isn't as busy but it is the same group of people and a number of them at 35 and 40 still think trolling and gimmicks are as funny as when they were 14. Or they are just sad and depressed adults who talk about politics and stay angry all day. So it is still like 95% people I skip over and engage with the good ones.

CE and AIM weren't good.

Aww this is such a high compliment you engaged with me which means I'm one of the good ones! (but yeah I do notice a lot more depressed people here now :/ but I also remember tons of people posting about wanting to suicide or hating their lives even back then... just seems like the percentage of negativity is higher now or something)

Yeah I mean I don't know anything about like 2005 CE or earlier. I think when I was 10/11 years old I did go on CE a few times but I didn't start posting until I was 12 or 13, which felt like forever back then. I remember hearing about the purge monster but idk what it was. I first starting coming during gamefaqs version 10 when that was the theme.

Lol I said I was still here in 2017-2019! I do come on CE every once in a while still but I don't even really look at the topics. I think it's a reflexive habit to get karma at this point on the days I think about it. Like I remember joining an Among Us group here in 2020 but I had such bad anxiety I was afraid to use my mic (I've since gone to a lot of therapy and am way better with that stuff since I got out of college and got a job)

I miss old CE, too. I miss the old internet in general. Hell, I miss how society was up until the mid-2010s.

Ye olde CE was pretty bad. be careful of what you wish for.. It was full of trolls and edgy kids. CE got really bad around the time Trump started running for office.
