Never thought about it. I don't think I did ever stick to a particular team.

That said, given the alternate endings, I'm surprised they don't make one for beating Lagos without Crono, Magus and Robo (Choosing not to go back for him in 1000 AD.

Best endgame team is probably Chrono, Ayla, then Frog or Robo. I used to use Chrono, Lucca, Robo and just spam single techs - and that's certainly strong, but lacks Falcon Hit. Ayla has crazy doubles with everyone and the triples are surprisingly strong. Nice to have good physicals, too.
Lucca, Robo, Magus is also good for the triple and have strong singles.

This is my ideal party but yeah from this thread I guess I have been absolutely sleeping on Ayla. Her motif always just kinda bugs me compared to all the other characters.

For a long time it tended to either be Crono, Marle, Lucca or Magus, Marle, Lucca (the 2 girls specifically because I always like Antipode 3). When I replayed it finally on the Steam version a little while back, I was more flexible.

It used to always be Crono, Marle, and Ayla, but I made a point to mix up the parties as much as possible on a recent replay. I somehow never realized during the last 30 years that you can switch party members at any time, not just at save points / the EoT (sure would've been nice to realize that when I decided to shake things up by taking Crono Marle and Robo to Denadoro Mt, was quickly reminded that the Ogres are nigh-indestructable until you burn their hammers, and backtracked all the way to the Gate to get Lucca).

I think I ended the game this time with Crono Marle and Lucca just for story reasons. Crono and Ayla are my go-to duo overall, though - Falcon Hit is just too damn good.

Robo does everything. Healing, fire, shadow and lightning magic damage though fire isn't reliable, melee damage. Just dump all magic and speed tabs onto Robo to make the magic strong and not take forever between turns.
