idk about android but on iPhone when you select a photo to upload you can tap the button at the bottom right to change quality

GameFAQs applies its own further quality downgrade. Which also makes it really stupid that they limit uploads to 4MB in the first place, if theyre gonna cut them down anyway.

Can't you just upload elsewhere and post the link? If you specifically want to embed, yeah, you're kinda stuck with what GameFAQs has, but I'm kinda struggling to think of a scenario where you HAVE to embed but also HAVE to have better quality.

The initial upload still takes up space, so even if it ends up cutting it down, it still exists on the host before it cuts it down, even if only temporarily, which is likely why the limit is there.

It's terrible it doesn't work here anymore like it used to and majority of new things get flagged or removed. That's what I used to use but they became strict or someone here kept reporting my stuff for copyright. That includes videos and pictures.

...What are you uploading that is getting flagged and removed on Imgur, of all things? Can't you upload to Imgur and not make it public, which means only those who have the link can see it? Which would mean it's somebody you're sharing it with flagging it?

There can still be a limit, just one that's a bit more reasonable by 2025 standards (as opposed to by the standards of whenever this was introduced, at which point in time 4MB was probably quite reasonable). I doubt they're going to run into any storage issues with the levels of traffic the boards have, just because some larger images exist on the server for all of 5 seconds.

And if there are issues, they could always delete all the image files from posts that have purged. No, really. Go on "that site", find a topic from a few years back that's obviously purged, and see if the image links still work.

(Except that "that site" is being kinda broken right now, so I can't pull up topics that old to verify it - it's erroring out when I try - but I did confirm that some from January this year are still there.)

(Which also raises the concern of whether moderated images that may be particularly offensive - or worse, illegal - may also end up remaining on the server, and publicly accessible to anyone who knows the URL...)

If you want to embed image links from other sites besides Imgur and the built-in uploader, use the ImageFAQs script.

It'll only embed the images for you and other ImageFAQs users, not for everyone, but it's the best you can do right now. I doubt they'll ever bother improving the built-in uploader or adding another site that automatically embeds.

I think I just get hit by copyright things my account has been previously warned so it makes sense they keep tabs on it. On streamable I also got banned for reposting a news that was deemed offensive....
