Also I'm trying to imagine how the game in the OP could be made without including the N word. It's a bit of a no-win I think. If you don't include enough racism, the game feels rather meaningless. If you go all the way, people would probably find it offensive.
Make the game rated M I guess. They say the n word in gta 5

I thought Shadows sold well? If it did why cancel this?

Im surprised they havent done a game
centering on WW2. Or even WW1.

It would be able to flash back to events before the war so you could enjoy Europe both default and extra crispy.

There was a ton of "controversy" over Yasuke even if the game did well.

It also sold about Mirage numbers which was less than Valhalla. And now there's "controversy" over anything anti-racist or fighting the KKK.

All that matters is numbers though right? I mean they're goal is to make a profit; hell the controversy could've sold more copies? I feel the only explanation that makes sense is it didn't have the legs they wanted in sales post launch? I remember people talking about how well it was doing though.

The controversy was entirely coming from people who were never going to purchase the game, couldnt tell you what exactly the problem with Yasuke was, and really were only interested in roasting Ubisoft.

Yeah, but that's not how they think now. Being attacked online IS a factor and even if it sold, it could be "if not for this it could've sold MORE"

Would have been interesting if this was AC3 back in 2012. I actually enjoyed the 1700s story in AC3 and it was a tragic and bittersweet one, not a "hurrah, the American Revolution is great!" story. A Reconstruction story could easily capture tragic and bittersweet vibes.
