Switch 2 has been a massive success and there will be a switch 3 in like 10 years. I don't know why people think Switch 2 is dead. It's just getting started and Switch is the new permanent brand name that Nintendo will use going forward probably for the rest of our lives

What is the Switch 2 supposed to be in 7 years at the end of its lifecycle? Devs giving up on it? Drowning among the PS6 handheld, Steam Deck 2, Xbox handhelds, and Windows handhelds?

And yet the Wii and Switch were massive successes. Underpowered, yes, but that obviously didn't matter for sales.

Hardware usually outpaces software. The difference between ps5 and switch 2 is being a handheld. That's going to cut power just by design.

yeah looking at back when it came out it was a mess but took years for it to be at least be optimized enough for even my old hardware to run it
and NS2 isn't dying nintendo isn't competing with sony/MS they are aiming for a decent portable system that if devs took the time can port it to it but if not they can coast on their IP and lower budget games
the new pokemon already sold 5.8 mil along with moving NS2 sales up too and this is before holiday sales

hope FS at least makes it decent enough to run but i still expect issues and stutter cuz it's a FS game even on PC they sucked and it takes them time to fine tune their ports

People acting like this is some hit at the Switch 2 meanwhile it's still better to play the PS4 version of Elden Ring on PS5 than it is to play the PS5 version.

Elden Ring runs on the 2013 Xbox One. There's no way the Switch 2 ain't capable.

Maybe there can be a Switch 2 Pro. They've never done that before but this could be the gen to do it. To stay competitive in like 5 years from now

Let's not pretend that Elden Ring was fully optimized since day 1, especially for the PC. Fromsoft is bad about optimizing their game on it. Glad to see they at least trying to get it to work on the Switch 2 to delay it.

if anything FS delaying it to optimize it seems good for me cuz they are taking their time to iron it the bugs even tho i know they won't catch it all cuz of their history on ports on PC for me

I expect that they are remaking the models of every asset (further reducing the poly counts), which means having to redo all the texture mapping too.

Probably still selling very well, and outperforming anything not it's actual successor.

Switch 2 is having one of the best console launches in recent history. Will clear 10 million consoles sold by the end of the year. Already has more exclusives than PS5 or Xbox Series. Runs demanding games like Cyberpunk and Star Wars Outlaws better than the Steam Deck.

i am glad NS2 doing well but i know 3rd parties will mostly ditch it like they always do in making ports cuz they don't want to spend on working on ports to be optimize so when ps6 comes out i know they will just push the usual gimmicks of graphic crap using UE5 so i expected future games ports to be even more crappy then now along with it's pc ports
but i mostly go for nintendo exclusives anyway on their system and expect decent indie games and maybe some AA titles for NS2 with modest budget to still come out on it so again it's mostly PC+NS2 will be set for the games i want to play by then
and on another note man it feels like ps5 just came out and it's been 5 years already. dang time sure fly's and wonder how much will ps6 will cost. 700/800 or even 900$

If I was a dev, seeing how Switch sold, I'd make Switch 2 the baseline and port to other platforms from there.

i would too. but for some reason the publisher just don't want to aim for a nintendo system unless it's a low budget game or ports and it weird since we saw how they loved to work on PS2 even tho it was the weakest console of it's gen and then PS3 which was a bitch to work with and most ports were horrible and yet still they didn't drop it like they do with a nintendo system anytime they ran into an issue or low sales on the system
but at least compared to the old days 3rd party support improved and it's a lot higher now so ports should still happen but i still foresee low effort ports from the usual AAA devs
and i can already see some pretend FF7r is a great optimized game and NS2 sucks for having issues despite SE having a history of halfass ports even on PC like FF7r part one port on pc sucked and had stutters and fps drops and i hate how they don't even let us disable motion blurs without having to mess with mods to access files to turn it off

To take full advantage of the power that the PS6 will have would require absolutely insane budgets that most devs don't have

Switch 2 is a great baseline to target, and then your game gets 4k 120+fps easily on other platforms

since when did devs catered to nintendo they mostly base their games on sony which holds back pc ports and it sucks when they half ass it when it comes out for pc like FF7r i hate how shitty rebirth is where it forces you to have newer gpu's just to run it cuz of shitty gimmicks baked into the game's engine

and lastly if PS6 is that powerful then there is no way it will cost under 500$
