Avoid GoLytely, get Clenpiq.

The latter is about 8 ounces of flavored water, the former is a gallon of room temperature mucous.

Source: have lost count of colonoscopies, first time I was like 7.

I have a small OTC bottle of something, and also some prescription powder (?) that I have to mix with water. Not sure how much it'll be in total that I have to drink, but it's an all day thing from what I can see in the instructions

The prep is the worst part. The procedure itself isn't bad. Luckily I've only had to have it done once so far.

Omg 7? Poor thing.
I can't remember the name of what I got atm. I'm going shopping in just a bit for some "clear liquid diet" items. Gonna get:

  1. yellow jello
  2. clear soda
  3. chicken broth
  4. gatorade
  5. applejuice

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

I do have a manual one, also getting vaseline :x

It's honestly a pretty good nap.

And you're gonna have to fart like you're a cartoon character.

And to be honest, the prep usually isn't as bad as you think.

The first bit isn't exactly great, but before long it's pure liquid.

And not the "diarrhea hellfire" kind, it's like peeing.

However, I might just be acclimatized.

ClenPiq tasted like onions. I had signs of anemia so I had 1 colonoscopy and two down the throat.

I did one and did some gatorade+laxative prep as opposed to the concoction and it wasnt bad at all. The concoction prep i hear is really intense.

I had mine in June and the first thing I asked the doctor after I woke up was, "did you find my head?" I also messed with everyone and stood up and acted like I was going to fall. The sedation left me with no after effects and I was fine. Good luck, I hope all turns out well!

For anyone curious about the actual procedure, here's what happened:

I got dressed in a hospital gown and they gave me a bed. The nurse put an IV in me and told me to relax and wait a bit until the room was ready. About 5-10 minutes later, another nurse came and wheeled me to the operating room. It was dark and full of machinery (kinda intimidating as I'd never had a hospital stay/procedure before).

The nurse strapped a blood pressure strap to my arm, attached some sticky pads to my chest, and gave me an oxygen tube. She then sprayed some minty numbing solution in my throat twice for the upper endoscopy. The doctor came in shortly after and asked if I had any questions before they begin. I said no. Then another nurse asked me to turn onto my left side, and she placed a bite guard in my mouth to keep my mouth open. None of this was uncomfortable btw.

And that is literally the last thing I remember--turning onto my side and getting the mouth guard placed in. I guess the nurse gave me the sedative via my IV because I was completely out. And the next thing I remember is my husband and a nurse standing over my bed (which had been wheeled into a different room). And she's removing the IV and giving him a paper with all the post-op information. She said they removed one polyp, and there was some blood on the pad under my bum, which was from that. I got changed back into my clothes with my husband's help. The nurse also helped him get my socks and shoes on. I was woozy af.

She asked my husband to go pull the car to the front of the clinic, and they got me in a wheelchair and took me all the way out to the front until I was in the car.

The prep the day prior was definitely the worst part.

Be careful

I know of 2 horror stories.

One was my friends wifes friend, the other was his friend.

I need one but those stories scare me from doing it.

Ayyyy a fellow young starter.

I always just stuck to Gatorade to rehydrate.

The prep stuff i just pour in water, the first time I did it as a kid I used the lemonade Gatorade and now I cant drink it without puking. I also just drink it on the toilet using a starw. Straw really helps avoid the taste and the toilet part is for well...ya its fast acting me since I have Crohns...

Also Popsicles are a good shout to help get the taste out of your mouth and rehydrate you. I use the little Pedalyte pops.

Brings back bad memories from when I had to get a prostate exam 10 years ago. My doctor was a 6'2 black man with big hands. Guy had a habit of complaining about everything, glad he got fired he was incompetent. New family doctor is much better.

I had a colonscopy a few years ago. The prep wasn't so bad as a cousin of mine paid for some pills for me to take instead of that liquid.

I had that happen once.

I'm rolled over, I see the guy dispose of an empty syringe.
