It really depends. Some of my best memories playing breath of the wild involved me just picking a random corner of the world and going on an adventure. Games like the Elder Scrolls live and die on the amount of random stuff you can stumble upon while wandering. In those types of games, lost is where you want to end up. If it's something a little more annoying, like a puzzle or a hidden switch or a story trigger that is blocking progression that doesn't have a clear hint of where you need to go or what you need to do next can be frustrating. Blue Prince, while an incredible Indie puzzle game, is it good example of this because some of the end game puzzles require you to have been keeping a physical notebook of disjointed clues spread out over dozens of hours and if at any point you lost a clue or missed a note you may just be completely screwed because without looking it up it would be almost impossible to find the clue again. --- "History Is Much Like An Endless Waltz. yes, in the right kind of game. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1 and 2 for instance, just getting lost in the forests and countrysides and discovering neat things. --- Reject the Oligarchy. Not at all. Nothing makes me give up faster. I mean, maybe if it were a huge game. But having grown up on the PS1, I still associate it with bad camera angles, doors that don't look like doors, "clever" design and all that other shit that mean you'd "get lost" literally just trying to find the exit to a room that was 40'x40'. --- Arguing on CE be all like: https://youtu.be/JpRKrs67lOs?si=kPGA2RCKVHTdbVrJ ... In puzzle games like the Myst series, getting stuck or lost is a natural part of the game. Getting stuck for a long time can be frustrating and a lot of people just give up and just go online to look up the solution to whatever puzzle they are having problems with. I personally refuse to cheat and never look up solutions and will just struggle and struggle until I figure it out. I sometimes get so stuck that I decide to just stop playing for a few days to clear my head. I almost got to that point on the last puzzle game I played but I manage to solve the problem on my own at the last moment before I gave up. It's extremely satisfying to clear a puzzle game without looking up spoilers. --- Like it or leave it. Hey, where are you going? ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yes, but sometimes it becomes a real pita... to the point I hate. For example, knowing there's a location undiscovered on a map, but there's no way point or actual detailed map. You gotta just 'find' the entrance, and it takes like 2-4 hours. *still salty about that* ... Copied to Clipboard!

It's depends on why I'm lost. Exploration focused game that gives me all the tools to not be lost but I just wandered off and lost the script somewhere? Absolutely. This truly is game dependant and the kind of lost it ends up being. It also sometimes changes a second playthrough where knowing how to get through it leaves me under levelled because being lost over levelled me. But like lost and left to wander and still find things or is kind of Zen, no problem. Lost and can't find the NPC to talk to that enables the game to go on, or the correct exist is somehow hidden or hard to see. Problems. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Purple_Cheetah posted... Yes, but sometimes it becomes a real pita... to the point I hate.In Metroid Prime, they had Jarvis chime in as soon as you finished something and show you where to go next. And I get it. Gamers think they're tough guys and having the game help you is an insult. I get annoyed when Luigi shows up, and I can see how you could look at it that way. I think it's stupid, but fine. Whatever. They overcompensated like a mofo in 2, though. Look. There are a lot of numbers of seconds between 0 and 990 zillion. I don't actually know how long it waits but it was way the hell too long and got worse every time. And then it was additionally completely obtuse and unhelpful. Like, if there was a door and a switch to open that door, it would take you to the door, even if the switch were literally on the other planet. Or following the icon would take you directly to a locked gate and not show you how to get around it. Fuck Metroid Prime 2. --- Arguing on CE be all like: https://youtu.be/JpRKrs67lOs?si=kPGA2RCKVHTdbVrJ ... Copied to Clipboard!
