I say they be at the back of the lot. Self-parking guests are more likely to fill up the spaces at the front of the lot first and the whole point of valets is to park and retrieve your car so you don't have to so why reserve their spaces in the very front of the lot?

Back obviously because it's their job to drive and park the cars, and they know what the open parking spaces are. The only argument against that is it adds more mileage to the cars which is pretty stupid

It's not necessary but people pay for it so why not

None of the above.

I'd argue they should probably be somewhere in the middle. Keep the close spots open for normal drivers, but also don't exile the valet spots to three states away.

The problem with putting them all the way at the back is then the valet has to walk that entire distance. Which isn't just making the valet work harder, it's also slowing down the entire valet process, as you're standing around waiting for your car and it's taking them 20 minutes to get it back to you. Which can then cause backlog, as cars start piling up in the queue to be parked/brought back. Logistically, parking close to the building is better in every way other than meaning that all of the close-up spots will be reserved so you can't park in them yourself. The ideal is a compromise between the two extremes. Maybe even having multiple valet reserved areas, with some up close for faster turnover (without dominating the close parking area), and some farther away for necessary overflow once the closer spots fill up.

Also, if you hate valet parking now because you think it's pointless or a scam, you might find you feel differently if you ever become disabled. Most places don't have nearly enough handicapped spots (especially hospitals and medical centers), and if they added more everyone else would complain (and at a certain point they stop being effective anyway). So having a valet who can park your car for you is a fantastic option (especially since it gets you even closer to the door than a handicapped spot usually does).

Get rid of it, I'm sick I'm driving through a parking lot looking for a spot for 15 minutes despite 30 spots being open but for valet
