Stopped after COVID for me. I still buy candy, so for the >5 kids that come around, they're getting a shit ton.

I haven't seen any in years.

I never did. I'm in a secure building. There are some kids here but they all seem to leave the building and trick or treat in the nearby neighborhood. Never had one knock on my door

Yep I've had a couple doorbell rings within the last hour.

I unfortunately found out back in 2019 when I bought my house that our street doesn't get any, but even before that in the place I used to live, the numbers had already started to shrink over the years to the point it wasn't even worth buying candy for anyone but myself.

We did last year but the fucking crazy wind gusts today are keeping them home.

Guess my kids will be bringing in a ton to share with their friends on Monday.

Never did, even before Covid. Living along a rural highway doesn't exactly attract a stream of trick-or-treaters.

I was renting a basement for several years, so any trick-or-treaters would have gone to the upstairs people. Now I'm living with my parents again, and there haven't been any so far, but it's also only 6:30. No idea if my parents even have anything ready for potential trick-or-treaters.

I don't decorate where I live..Must have been 10 years since a kid came on over. I feel so bad. Neighbors know.

Lived in Austin for 13 years, never had a single trick-or-treater but haven't been home for every Halloween either.

Now that my son is old enough we go to a different neighborhood nearby where people are into it.

When I'm home. I live in a small town in farm country out in the middle of cornfields and cow pastures. We have about 1,000 people these days in the town and Halloween brings out all the local young kids and you get a solid 50 to 75 kids, maybe 100 if the weather is nice and not too cold.

But I work 2nd shift and my days off are Monday and Tuesday so unless the night falls on my off day I'm not at home to hand out candy. Like right now I'm at work so now treats from my house tonight.

It's still really big and popular here in my Midwestern state in all the small towns.

Maybe two a year.

I had a table at a trunk or treat event at a local aid program office, so I still deal with them.

It's just not as much of a "neighborhood" thing nowadays.

Yes, lots. Turn on the lights and they'll show up here like zombies.

Nope. Moved into my current house in 2019 and had a handful of trick-or-treaters. This was a thrill since there were none in the apartment complex I was living in before that.

Then Covid happened, and I haven't had a trick-or-treater since.

My gate is locked, so I would hope not.

I live in the woods. I wouldnt open my door if a trick or treater showed up because its likely not a child. Its probably a squirrel hermit, bog hag, Bigfoot, or Mothman.

I'm seeing a lot, but they don't knock or ring the bell for some reason now. The lights are on and I feel like the house is invisible.

Had my light on for an hour 6-7pm but only 1 knock. I saw a few groups just walk on by while the light was on so idk.

We got some, and we weren't even home. We just called out to them and told them we weren't home, lol.

Then I went in and turned off the porch lights.

I got four groups of kids same as last year but I think different ones? They got a bunch of candy from me for trekking it out in those 40 mph gusts and cold weather. My fingers froze playing halloween piano music for the few that came around. If they can walk, I can play.

Yeah we always get a bunch. Usually like 50-75 kids

we have little ones so the past couple years we just put a bowl of candy on our porch and kids all just abide by the one or two rule.we came back to 7 pieces in our bowl this year

We haven't had any in like 20 years or so. Even then it was a friend of the family bringing their kid by to be nice, and get a hefty supply of our candy. Always have some just in case, even now.

I got a couple dozen. Not a whole lot, but it is also a bit rainy out.

I have already doubled the amount of trick or treaters this year... I've now had 2 kids come to my door!

Not for the past few years. I live in a rural ish area so it was never crazy with trick or treating, but I remember being a kid and it'd be crazy in the early evening.

Now? Not so much. Even before I moved back home, the city I lived in (ann arbor Michigan, one of the larger cities in my state) was pretty fucking lame when it came to Halloween. Lame ass over priced city. Second douchiest city in Michigan after Birmingham.
Sorry, rant over, I'm drunk.

But yeah, now most kids do trunk or treat at some point around Halloween and that's that.

We got 3 groups, 13 trick-or-treaters total.

It hasn't been much for the past few years, but it was even less this year. The cold and wind probably kept people away. There's also way less people giving out candy, at least around here.

When I was young, every single house on the block used to do it, and there was always huge crowds of kids going door to door... sigh. Times change, I guess.

Only a small amount. A bit of a shame really.

Yep, probably a good 200-300 tonight easily. We are pretty close to a strip that gets several hundreds, if not 1000+.

Compared to where I lived previously where we may have had 10-20 tops, if that, if the weather was crappy.

We had about 80 this year. That said, the houses around us are so depressing. We live in a big neighbourhood and only a handful actually decorated for Halloween. It honestly makes me sad for the future of my area if this little effort is put into these kinds of events.

tbh I think its less about the times and more just the current makeup of your neighborhood

like my neighborhood in the past five-ish years has had a lot of young families move in, and now there are tons of kids under ten in the area. If all those families stay then in 1015 years there will be a lot fewer kids in the area

feel like things just ebb and flow that way

My current neighborhood sucks, so zero.

My neighborhood is full of retirees, but we got 3 groups so far tonight compared to last year when it was zero. Just gave them all a handful of reese's pumpkins and nerds clusters

It stopped for a while but it's slowly started to come back in my neighborhood.

Much more this year. Lots of families moved in to the neighborhood in the past couple years and everyone around us bought giant inflatable Halloween decorations. We didn't but still had much more traffic and should have bought more candy.

Yes but it was pretty slow this year. Usually have 100+ kids, this year maybe 50.

i haven't lived in suburbs in like... 25 years

which isn't inherently mandatory to getting trick or treaters but i also used to live in the middle of nowhere.

Now I live in barracks so trunk or treats are a lot more popular thing than trick or treating

Since I left home in the 90s, none
Lived in a small town but lived on a highway. I had a farm gate that was "locked" all the time. People didn't bother.

Since I came home also none. I've done it for the last 3y and not a soul. What I hear they do now is like a festival. Costume contests and the like. I mean its safer and you dont have to wander the streets like most of us did as kids. Its a shame though. Kids nowdays are missing something. We did some nasty tricks back then.

I got 5 tonight, but there are a few reasons it was light, tonight. There was a big football game in town, and there's a couple places in town where neighbors have collaberated to make whole street-long yard haunts, and everybody goes there.

When the street next to ours ended up in the local paper (mainly online now) I should have bought twice as much candy than I did. Treak or treating went from 5 to 7 and my mom ran out by 6:30.
