Yknow when I heard about the Sierra Mist rebrand, I thought the brand would die pretty fast.

No, but when I worked at a place during the switch, we never ever bothered to explain the switch unless people asked.

Personally, I kinda liked Sierra Mist, it had a decent name & seemed to have slightly more CO2 than competing sodas, giving it a 'crisper' taste.

They took something inferior to both Sprite and 7Up and replaced it with something worse.

And theyre all inferior to Green River.

I see it all the time but I don't care to try it.

I did for the first time about 5 or 6 months ago. Long story short I need to drink no sugar soda and I need to avoid caffeine. It is difficult at times to find decent diet sodas that are also caffeine free. My default is Root Beer because I love it and other than Barqs Root Beer usually doesn't have caffeine. I also get this zero sugar Faygo grape that is awesome and fits my criteria.

I'm not over the moon about Coke or Pepsi but they do have caffeine free diet versions and if I want a cola flavor I occasionally will get one. But I used to love Mountain Dew. Those fuckers have like 15 flavors of Mountain Dew but they stopped the diet caffeine free version and that pisses me off so much.

Now with Mountain Dew being a "tropical lime" formula someone had told me Starry was close and since it was lemon lime I thought it might possibly be close. Since they had a no sugar version that was caffeine free I tried it. Unfortunately to me it taste way more similar to Sprite/7UP which I have such a poor reaction to because as a young kid there was an old wives tale that 7up would settle upset stomach so I only ever drank that when I was vomiting and so I associate it with being very sick.

So I can't drink those sodas without it almost magically making me feel like I need to puke. So no Starry for me. Too much like 7up and Sprite. Puke sodas.

I find Starry a lot more tolerable than US 7Up (7Up in Europe/the Middle East blows the fuck out of US 7Up, it's wild) and I prefer it to canned Sprite.

Bottled Sprite vs Bottled Starry is more of a draw.

Fountain Starry is definitely very hit and miss.

Yeah that would be fucked up. I mean I like pickled foods where I use vinegar and it goes good on certain foods but I don't want to drink it. The smell of it is awful too. Like I use vinegar when making my sweet zucchini relish but I dislike the smell of it. We also use it at work in water testing our boiler water and I don't like the smell.

not a fan of it. the restaurant I was working at for a while switched to starry and some rep from pepsi came in on the day we got it and handed out Starry t-shirts. I thought that was cool, but the drink? no thanks lmao

tbh the only citrus pop I like is Squirt which I think is grapefruit flavored

Fucking high five. Love me some Squirt as a kid and their diet version is no caffeine so I have been adding that to my regular rotation at home and yes it is grapefruit flavored which I know isn't popular but I love it.

Yes and I like it best of all the citrus sodas outside of Mountain Dew and 7up cranberry.

I prefer it to Sierra Mist.

Not my first choice, or my second, or even my third ... or my fourth for that matter.

Surge/Vault > Dr. Pepper > Lime Jarritos > Diet Coke With Lime > Mellow Yellow > Coke > Pepsi > Mountain Dew > Root Beer (any brand) > Sprite >>> 7up > Starry

I don't like these type of sodas, but my wife does.

We did a blind taste test with Starry, 7Up, Sprite, and FaygoTwist. She hands down preferred Starry.

Starry is incredible. Its MUCH better than the shitty Sierra Mist garbage it was before. Its got a much more crisp and refreshing taste. Better than Sprite too.

Of the lemon lime sodas Ive tried so far, heres my ranking:

Starry >>>> Sprite >>>>>>>>>>> Sierra Mist

I havent tried 7up in a decade or so, so I cant put it in my ranking until I try it again since its been so long. Other brands I just havent tried at all.

yes, i think it's better than the other citrus sodas. surge is better but i haven't seen that in years. i don't go inside gas stations much but when i do i look for it.

No. I completely forgot sierra mist rebranded. I don't think I've ever seen starry.

All I know is that the rumor about why it was changed to Starry from Sierra Mist and about how it was because of a Tik Tok influencer named Cierra Mist and how she had passed up millions of dollars in licensing and wanted some absurd number and then they rebranded was super entertaining but it was all bullshit and made up haha.

If only we had the Internet when everyone in my generation was talking about Mikey from Life cereal dying because of pop rocks. That shit would have been sorted out so quickly.

We got it once awhile back and were unimpressed. Didnt realize it was a rebranding of Sierra Mist.

Surprised at this topic as Sierra Mist was my favorite soda, but ever since the change, I have no interest in Starry. Also, Starry uses HFCS whereas there was a Sierra Mist line with cane sugar, so that's clearly better!

I preferred Diet Sierra Mist. That became "Diet Mist Twst," which was alright, but Starry can fuck off.

Starry is definitely different than Sierra Mist, though I mostly only drank Sierra Mist at Taco Bell.

I buy Starry cans. Starry at Taco Bell is fine.
