Aloof and ambiguously surly JRPG protag. It's been done better.

She's alright. Ironically shows a lot of personality in a game where she's been stripped of her emotions

It should have been Sazh for XIII MC.

Many of the main characters started out bad, but all of them got better.

Lightning started out with some toxic masculinity issues.

It's pretty bad when she feels like less of a protagonist than Snow is. I can't stand her. Not as bad as Vaan, but still pretty bad.

Shes great and if you say otherwise then youre clearly a sexist incel chud.

She is generic and boring...just like most of the main cast except for maybe Fang and Sazh.

She's aggressive and has a dry sense of humor. Some people don't like that about her, but I do. :)

fang and vanile are the true GOATS of 13

nah, they gave her mostly one emotion and made that her character for 90% of the game.

She is not worse than Vaan. He doesnt even belong in the story of his own game. Shes probably second worst protagonist though.

Nah, but she kinda had no chance. She was given nothing to work with and rushed from setpiece to setpiece.

The cast deserved a better game.

I don't see her as a "good character" or "bad character" overall.

Just kind of a character that exists to me.

I liked her more than most final fantasy main characters to be honest.

Cloud is my favorite of course, but zidane is like right there. They fight for 1 and 2.

Tidus had got good character development, so he is a solid number 3.

Cecil despite being a main character in the 16-bit era (a era in which there is but so much dialogue that can go around because of cart storage reasons) still was really great with what we had for the story, so he is number 4.

I can't rank FF16's clive since I never actually finished that one and barely made it far.

I like lightning more than the rest up until FF13's creation. Bartz/buttz barely has a character to speak of besides generic rpg good guy (I was all about faris and galuf when it comes to FF5), 1 and 3 were just generic silent create-a-characters basically (not counting FF3's DS/PSP remake. It was aight' but still nothing crazy when it comes to giving the 4 onion kids a actual character).

FF6 was doing a ensemble cast thing but if we had to pick terra as the main-main character then shes......ok.

She may not be my favorite final fantasy protagonist, but yeah, I actually do like her more than a good bit of the others we had.

I thought she was a great character. She's cold and stoic, but that makes sense for her. Lost both of her parents young, and Lightning had to basically become the parental figure for her little sister when she was 15. So teenage her decided that the best way to look after her little sister was to be tough and not show any weakness. She even gave herself an edgy name to go with her new tough facade (Lightning's real name is actually Claire)

To be honest I have a hard time separating Lightning, the character, from Final Fantasy XIII, the unholy piece of garbage.

Originally she was suppose to be a bit of a flirt. That would have made her a bit more interesting.
