Can't begin to imagine what parents are going through. Some kids are all right, but there are some who I feel would malfunction if they weren't tied to a phone or tablet 24/7

I didnt even grow up with smartphones and I feel like my attention span has been obliterated. Kids who grew up fast-scrolling through an endless feed of AI generated slop videos are DOOMED.

Too many parents dont want to parent.

Credit where it's due, that video is something I have not seen before.

Toddler doesn't need a tablet, especially not access to YouTube.

YouTube and YouTube Kids are a huge concern, my kid is straight up not allowed to watch that rot.

The fact that we don't let her near social media or any of that shit is the main thing that makes her think we're just the worst and most strict parents in the world. She'll thank me when she's older.

My nephew has a tablet and while I dont think my sister and her husband are bad parents its certainly something I disagree with. The kid is addicted to it.

Though in their defense it wasnt really different when we were kids. For him its a tablet. For me it was a Gameboy. That being said, my fiance and I both agree that our children wont be tablet kids. Something we both highly disagree with is the tablet at the dinner table, something my nephew is allowed to do. I feel like its just teaching him poor manners and bad social skills

We reserve the tablet for when we do plane trips or like out of state road trips for our 3 year old.

But...I wonder how different this is from old cartoons like bloomy posted. One thing is, shorts and tik tok type videos are probably too short and too fast paced

A lot of it is, yes. However auto-play can easily take kids on a trip into some pretty fucked up parts of YouTube and since YouTube Kids is moderated by fucking AI a lot of bad shit slips through the cracks.

My kid has seen some very much inappropriate shit watching YouTube at my parents place. I've had to repeatedly tell my mom to not give my kid her tablet. All YouTube time needs to be fully supervised. I did give my kid a tablet but it's locked down pretty hard on what she's allowed to do on it.

The content is weird but I think the bigger issue is parent's checking out while the videos just autoplay. Besides the videos being endless I think it's kinda silly complaining about the AI videos. That shit is no different than watching a rabbit and a duck argue about which one of them should be shot.

Is there a way to set a timer on YouTube so that the kids can't just endlessly scroll through AI slop? Cause I know some tablets have that feature natively as part of parental controls but I don't know if that's part of YouTube itself.
