Can't phones be put into a "safe mode" or "demo mode" or whatever it's called where it disables every app besides a handful of crucial apps (calls, texts, calculator for example)? And have parents designate a time, say M-F between 7am-3pm, where that mode is auto enabled on the kids phone? Seems like a win-win for everyone? Kids still get to bring their phones, parents still get the piece of mind that their kid can contact them if necessary, and teachers deal with way fewer distractions in class?
