Perhaps you should try reading my post again. I said "These people seem to think he should've let her back him into the wall". As in I know he wasn't quite there yet, but this nutjob wouldn't stop pursuing, and had shown previous intent to walk into others. And it's beyond unreasonable to ask him to assume she wouldn't take it further.
