It's a good movie with memorable moments once you get to the chocolate factory. Everything before that is very skippable/boring.
not true. the candy store opening is fun. there are several funny moments that are played for serious in the lead up to the candy factory that you miss as a child, like the new caster saying something like "what is there left to live for if the last golden ticket was found", and the ridiculous way the teacher acts in the school. lots of moments like that, that as a kid i found boring, but as an adult they are pretty damn fun.
