g0ldie posted... my point was just that, all we know, as the viewer, is that there are these underground people who appear to mostly be identical to those living on the surface, and that some have deeper connections to their counterparts as others.
I'm not saying that the explanation provided isn't what's going on in the story, but I also feel like it's ridiculous to believe that a woman who was snatched up as a child and brought to an underground society, where she's the only one who can communicate, found out the government's secret plans to clone all of the country's citizens as a way to control them.
like, if you hung out only with gorillas from 8 until 30, and you started talking about government conspiracies, I might have some reservations if I heard them.
that's all I'm saying.

Yea but seeing as it was a work of fiction, and not an alternate reality where anything but what was intended to be the story was the story...we know thats not the case. The story as written is the story. There is nothing to indicate, from the writer, that what youre suggesting was ever even considered to be the case. All things in reality seem to point to the story being the story. Nothing points to what youre saying. Its a story, if the writer didnt at any point intend for the person telling the story to be unreliable than shes not, there is no ambiguity on this point..the universe and story dont change against the will of the person telling the story, the story beats only exist within the mind of creator.
Youre literally making up a plot that doesnt exist and saying that as the viewer we should maybe interpret it that way even though all indications are we are supposed to take the story for what it is.
