I actually didnt feel like it was much of a kids movie, felt very mature imo especially the villain Superfly
It was surprisingly well written with good characters and a 'mature' moral, but it was very much: A moral that has a plot, rather than a plot that has a moral. Which is a writing style used in children's media to emphasize the moral so children absorb it because they aren't old enough to draw conclusions from nuanced plots. Also the characters acted more like middle schoolers than high schoolers.

Let's all point and laugh at this dude.
Care to elaborate? Childrens media doesn't have to be dumbed down. The 80's TMNT cartoon is witty as all get out. Some of the jokes are the same 'hidden adult jokes' people applaud classic Cartoon Network series for, like Johnny Bravo or Powerpuff Girls.

Compare the original Teen Titans to Teen Titans GO and you'll see the points Im trying to make.
