If Satan is evil, why is he used as a punishment for evil people? Wouldn't Satan be dapping people up when they enter hell?

He isn't, and it's explained in the bible lol

How was it explained?

He was sent to hell for not wanting to serve humans and so he tests them and tortures them for not obeying the God he loves.

There are interpretations that Satan and Lucifer are two entirely different entities. Satan is the deciever, the serpent of the garden of Eden whereas Lucifer was the original right hand of God and the most beautiful of the angels that became a fallen angel for starting the uprising in heaven.

Basically, the angels were created from the light of creation, whereas man was created from the dirt. When God ordered the choir to serve mankind, Lucifer thought it was beneath the angels to do so. The practical upshot of this is also that hell was never meant for man, it was created to punish Lucifer and the angels that joined his rebellion.

Satan is an entirely different demon. The serpent of Eden, and Job's torturer among other things.

I've read through the bible more than twice, cover to cover, and I can tell you for a fact that neither of these interpretations are backed by scripture. Satan used to be Lucifer, the original source of temptation, and evil. But we know the end of the story, and spoiler alert, he loses.
