for real, a lot of times episodic shows are treated like they're serial simply because 5 mins of an episode bleeds into the next, for every episode. So many serial shows if they simply shifted that 5 mins into the end of the previous episode, it would suddenly be completely episodic without pointless "cliffhangers". Yet people fall for it every time.
