This has always been a very bad take. Bernie never had a real shot in the long run, he only appeared to be more popular than he was because his main contender was having his votes split multiple ways. The fact that you need a very specific set of inorganic circumstances that are explicitly favorable towards Bernie with some double standards sprinkled in to get you from A to B should tell you that.
