It just opened my eyes at how profoundly ignorant I was about politics in general.
I wish more people could have concocted this takeaway from the 2016 election because I think it was true for a lot of really vocal people on the internet during it. Way too many people suddenly decided they cared about politics because of bullshit like gamergate or all the weird conspiracy theories floating around at the time, and the result was people thinking that a republican politician would be an anticorporate pro lgbt beacon of anticorruption
Exactly. I still don't really like the left's attitude about some things but they are on the right side of things that actually matter like Healthcare. That and I had the naive belief that both sides just wanted what was best for the country but Republicans really do act like supervillains or something, it's fucking ridiculous.
