Mead posted...BotW was bright, exciting, and innovative. I have no idea how you could view that game as dull.
First, let's be real, it was
not innovative. It did nothing that many previous games had not done before. All it did was transplant the Zelda series into a different subgenre of adventure game.
And I'm not trying to hate on it because it's different. I played it and found it extremely boring. I find watching it boring. That's not me trying to find reasons to not like it. That is my genuine physiological response to the game. It prompts no endorphin release in my body. It does not excite me in any way. It just feels incredibly generic and I imagine if it were a new IP that played exactly the same and had no Zelda assets it would have gotten markedly lower reviews scores.
