Very true. Nostalgia is a hell of a thing. I don't think there is anything wrong with holding a film in high regard due to it being ground breaking even if by today's standards they don't hold up.

I do think the highway scene and chateau fight still holds up though.

Yeah, it's understandable that the movie was going to age, and without its strengths it's really just a silly plot. You have to consider its time to appreciate it. Remember back then it was the first to do a lot of stuff, it was really cool. There had been CGI in movies before of course but The Matrix was the first film that showed us that imagination really was the limit now of what you could show on the screen.

Agree, the highway/chateau is one of the great action sequences that's still good even today.
