Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new mafia experience.

Yes, I know Valentine's Day was last week but it's a better name than "Dating Show Mafia."

In this twist on the classic mafia formula, you will still be assigned "Town" or "Scum", with traditional mafia roles, and must attempt to win by removing all members of the opposite faction from the game. Unlike traditional mafia, rather than eliminating a player by majority vote, you'll instead be forced to find a Valentine's date to spend the night with, just the two of you. Any remaining unpaired players at the end of the day will be eliminated from the game. At night, you'll be entered into a private discord channel alone with your date to chat with as you please.

Days will plan to start and end at 7pm Eastern (though I will reserve the right to start days at 8pm if more time each night is needed for me to set up the night channels. Days will still end at 7pm Eastern, regardless of their start time). There will be a couple of other accommodations in the rules that should make the game easier for players in other (non-North American) time zones to participate in and the hard deadline at the end of the day much less meaningful than in typical games.

My current setup is for 15 players. I've taken the liberty of signing up everyone who said "in" in the mafia topic. If you've changed your mind, let me know and I'll remove you from the list.

yes, but no player regardless of alignment will be able to date the same person in two consecutive nights (until there are 3 players remaining)

If there is 4 scum they can just keep pairing with themselves in rotating order. I think im confused.

This is a very interesting concept. Definitely (probably?) don't have the time but I'm curious to see how it plays out. Reminds me of Monster Seeking Monster from Jackbox (which I despise, primarily because I suck at it).

I concur that this sounds interesting, but since I'm on vacation I don't want to hold this up until I get home in two weeks. I'd want to play, so feel free to put me down as a replacement. Just don't call on me D1.

Just wanted to say this is a really cool idea and I'm curious how it plays out. I expect most people just to partner up and not give much content but I hope I'm wrong. I would love to play but I will never be around for the end of days.

Since there's no voting, the end of the day phase should be significantly less crazy (and i've taken a couple of additional steps to de-emphasize that 3ish hour end of day period in particular). you're free to pair up before the deadline and feel safe missing that exact period of time!

so like, if you're interested it could be the right game for you with that in mind!

sooo i hate to be the bearer of bad news but due to some limitations of this experimental format, its not possible to expand to 17 players without either rewriting fundamental rules for the setup or just being really imbalanced. (this should be clear once you all see the rules list in the opening post)

So its gotta stay at 15.

I wasn't an only if you needed me. I just warned I wouldn't have massive activity. This is how things will be almost always now due to the massive amount of sports my son is in. But, if someone wants to play really bad then I understand.
