Top 10 options are in order of number of locations (cuz that's the only list I can find apparently - link in post)

I may have missed a few places on the list because I wasn't sure what they were, nor if they actually had burgers or not.

There was also a place called MOS Burger that I skipped because it's only in Hawaii as far as the US is concerned, so I imagine most of us have never had it.

Five Guys.

Like I said before, the "fast food burgers" served by McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's are so flat and thin, they're almost deli meat. Terrible.

I also like that Five Guys burgers are plain by default, so you don't risk some idiot putting mayonnaise on it.

Just to check, this poll wants to know about the best burger, and not the best overall food, correct? I ask because those would not be the same answer. Like choosing between McDonald's breakfast or Dairy Queen's desserts make it the best overall burger restaurant, but neither of those two places has the best burger by any stretch.

Good point, I actually did mean to clarify this in the OP

You are only deciding on the burgers themselves. So if you like Mcdonald's fries but Burger King's burgers, you would vote for Burger King.

That said, specialty burgers count as well, so long as they are technically burgers. Wendy's Baconator, for example, would fit within the realm of a burger, but McDonald's Filet-o'Fish would not.

Also, I'll never understand why you post your choice in spoiler text. You can often tell which choice you chose just by looking at the length of the spoiler, kinda defeating the whole point of hiding it.

Best burger: Five Guys, Runner up: A&W

Best chicken fingers/nuggets: Mcdonald's mcnuggets, Runner up: None even come close

Best chicken burger: Dairy Queen Flamethrower Chicken Burger, Runner up: Wendy's Spicy Chicken

Best Fries: Mcdonald's, Runner up: Five Guys

Best onion rings: A&W, Runner up: Dairy Queen

Best Desert: Dairy Queen, Runner up: Wendy's

Five Guys is just quality all around
Mcdonald's mcnuggets are fantastic and their fries are the best, but everything else they have sucks
A&W is a little bit worse than Five Guys, but still solid
Wendy's is like A&W, solid but worse than Five Guys.
Dairy Queen's flamethrower sauce is amazing, and are overall pretty alright and naturally have great desserts.

The others are meh to bad. Burger King is by FAR the worst.

For me as far as the traditional burger and fries goes. Five Guys = Steak 'n Shake > Hardees > Burger King = Wendy's > Mc Donalds > Sonic.

Never eaten an an A&W or Whataburger, and I dont think they have those near me.

Two people have posted about DQ's Flamethrower now, is it really that good?

Also how hot (spicy, not temperature) is it? I'm a huge bitch about spicy food and can't really handle it. Like, my absolute maximum (at the moment - working on improving tolerance) is Buffalo Wild Wings medium sauce.

Well, Jack in the Box certainly took a beating... I only ever think of that time my buddy got an 11-patty burger there and he squashed it down to eat it and it looked like a grease faucet turned on.

I voted Five Guys. There isn't one in my city for whatever reason, but the one half its size to the east has a location. Whenever I go out that way I try to stop by.

It's pretty much wild wings spicy. For me the appeal isn't the spiciness, it's the blend of tastes. I suck at describing stuff, so sorry if that doesn't help much.

I live in NE Illinois and have never seen a Hardee's/Carl's Jr, Jack in the Box, Sonic, or Whataburger.

There's only one Five Guys in this area and it's always packed.
