Depends on if the species being poached is endangered I guess. But like a hefty fine or a year works.

Whatever trespassing plus malicious destruction of property ends up being.
Also theft, with the degree of the charge being based on the black-market value of whatever parts they've taken.

If someone sneaked into a cow farm in Kansas, shot a cow, and started sawing off parts of it, the rancher would be just as justified in shooting the poacher dead as rhino ranger in Tanzania.

Nothing but poached eggs every day for five years, in a guarded room that smells of bad eggs and dirty socks. That's the first offense.

Second offense, they're told they can only wear aforementioned dirty socks, and are sent into the wild where they're hunted, and are never accepted back into society.

Lot of people seem to think poaching is just shooting rabbits on the king's land.
It is an international crime organization, usually controlled by chinese gangs to feed their bullshit magical remedies market. Not just elephants and rhinos, but bears and other dwindling species. I've got no problem with having all poachers executed on site.
Hookers and Ice Cream aren't free.

Shooting a whitetail deer out of season or more than your limit even on your own property is poaching where I live. There is a punishment for that in my state. Sneaking on our farm and shooting a cow either to eat or for the Hell of it is an added crime. That is why it depends.

That's what I'm hoping happens. Has anyone been working on that? I'd love to see it get produced in a lab and those vile poachers out of business in a matter of months.

They should be put on a televised/streamed show where they are put on an island with no weapons or equipment with the animal they were poaching and face off against it to the death. They have a 24 hour time limit, otherwise they lose and get shot. If they win they get to keep the animal they originally were poaching and the one they killed on the show.
