If they looked really hungry/desperate, I'd offer to pay for their food. If they were just some thugs looking for a five finger discount, I'd tattle

I'd turn them in. There are places where I live that anyone can get food for free. No reason to steal it.

Where I live there is literally a church on every fucking block, so no-- I'd report it. Plenty of ways you can be a mooch legally around here.

I'm pretty sure theft under a certain amount is a misdemeanor, not a felony. I can't imagine you'd get a felony charge for stealing a few bucks worth of groceries.

I knew a guy that would steal candy bars and slumjims. Real douchebag but I didn't rat on him.

Saw some lady take a hunk of cheese from a reception and put in her bag. Said it was for her kids.

There are the crazy and the desperate and they are hungry.
Nobody is perfect. Well, one guy was but we killed him.

I most likely wouldn't let them steal it, but what I'd do depends on them and their situation. If it was just some douchebag stealing a snack or something I'd probably rat them out. If I knew it was something they needed I'd probably buy it for them.

If it's a child, then I'd probably confront him or her and I'll pay for what he/she took.

If it's an adult, I'd probably alert the security.
