It's still a good game.

Anyway, for me it's Banjo Kazooie, but that's because I haven't Finished Oot.
OoT feels like the obvious answer, but I almost feel like voting smash because it started a great series imo. where as OoT was just another entry in an already great series.

I still went with OoT though, because I still go back and play that sometimes. only other 64 game i've replayed in recent history is star fox 64
Cid- "looks like that overgrown lobster just got served!" Bartz-"with cheese biscuts AND mashed potatoes!"
Ogre Battle 64

Well for me anyways.
This is my signature, there are many others like it, but this one is mine.

its pretty much what made FPS games popular on something other than PC. I loved the game, it wasn't my first FPS game though, that honor goes to DOOM (PC version) which somehow I was allowed to play when I was like 5

I'll name some other ones that are great games and not often mentioned -

Rayman 2: The Great Escape
Gauntlet Legends
Hydro Thunder
Mario Tennis
Jet Force Gemini
Goemon's Great Adventure
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
Buck Bumble
Probably going to go with SM64 since it still holds up pretty well unlike many of the other entries.

I mean, he could've played it for the first time last year and think it's absolute crap.

I played it back then and it was far inferior to pc fps at the time. By today's standard it's unplayable garbage. Compare that to the other titles on the list which, while primitive, are still enjoyable at best and playable at worst, Goldeneye is trash. I can't comprehend how some people can call it the best N64 game or best shooter ever.

I loved that game and had hours of good times with it.. but trying to play it earlier this year, and it's basically unplayable now. Of all the legendary games of that era, that one has held up the worst.

I played it way back when it first came out and it was absolute trash back then as well.

Goldeneye is like the video game world's Twilight. Fans love it, but everyone else knows it's terrible.

That's why there will be a platformer with a gun in it and people will say, "Still a better FPS than Goldeneye."

GEye was awesome, especially playing with friends in multiplayer. Had so much fun, especially when playing 2 vs 2 with teams

Paper Mario. Created the perfect charming atmosphere.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I never had an N64 (but have played N64 at friends/other family), but I played a good amount of N64 games and I first played Ocarina of Time on the GameCube and it became one of my all-time favorites (and I also somehow had a gold cart of OoT N64 but I don't know what happened to that).
