Squatty potties are just a little platform that sits in front of the toilet that puts you in more of a squatting position when you put your feet on it. You're still putting your full weight on the toilet, so people with limited mobility don't have to worry about supporting themselves in a squatting position. If their hips are bad enough that it's uncomfortable to have their knees up that high, it could still be a problem, but in general it's not something that demands that much mobility.
